According to the site owner, Alan Turnbull, his groundbreaking UK Secret Bases website has been deleted by host company Virgin Media (formely NTL).

In a statement made to Cryptome Alan stated that he "started experiencing intermittent access problems on Monday 6th August 2007 and assumed just a temporary local network fault."

He "complained to Virgin Media technical helpdesk tonight, Tuesday 7th August 2007 at 10pm and they then promptly deleted my whole webspace!"

Fortunately, Cryptome have a mirror of the site taken in 2004, which can be found at Cryptome 2004 mirror of UK Secret Bases website

Fingers crossed that Alan is soon able to continue providing the results of his fascinating research at UK Secret Bases website.

Although his normal site address has been inactivated, Alan appears to be back in business on homepage.ntlworld.com...

They work perfectly for me.
Unless it was another ''down time'' thingy, I suggest that the user that had "page not found".

Simply had an error of some sorts =p

homepage.ntlworld.com...

homepage.ntlworld.com...

Both work perfectly fine. The first he put up did have problems though.

www.secret-bases.co.uk redirects to the top of those 2 links.

is it possible that you could edit the title to read 'website' rather than 'site'?

i thought when i read the title that it meant some secret uk base had been closed. i wasn't aware of the website and probably would have clicked on it earlier if it had said website (as it sounds more interesting than just a closed base as i first thought it was).

thanks

Imo, it'd be more sensible to wait a while before coming to that conclusion.

That's a great site; I really do hope he doesn't lose the whole thing forever.
