Just curious why rap is still around and growing. Its mostly just a bunch of uneducated black people who use produced sound with lyrics that make no sense. "African-americans" keep complaining about stereotypes and yet almost every rap song just furthers the steroetypes.................. im just curious if any one has an answer

The same reason country and rock n roll are still around, people like it.

Thats a gross generalization. I'd be surprised if you've ever read up on the life of even one rapper. Just because you can't understand the lyrics doesn't mean they don't make sense.:shk:

"Sound, and lyrics that make no sense."

I think my dad said that about rock n roll.
Which I believe was started by a bunch of white dudes.
Who "borrowed" it from a bunch of "black dudes".

It's music, it's an expression of life experience, and is has it's place in world culture, as does any form of music..

you know, white people rap to right? not just a black person thing, rap evolved from some great things, and has evolved into some great things. Just remember, whatever music you listen to, someone hates it 10x more then you hate rap.

Well Gurt, nothing like showing complete and total ignorance your first day here on the job. Your opinion of rap being created by uneducated black people shows that you have minimal knowledge if none at all, about who creates rap/hip hop and what their education level is. You probably like country music, and I could say the same thing about that, but that would be ignorant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I must say I severely disagree with yours.

Might I suggest that you support your accusations before posting something so ridiculous. Statements like the ones you made are what are keeping this country racist, and frankly they make me

Rap is part of the evolution of music.Get the album council estate of mind by Skinnyman and if you can't hear the fusion of r&b/soul/rock + rap..buy new ears.

first of all i didnt say every rapper is black and uneducated, just a majority. and yes back in the day i did listen to rap. Im talking about the current rap i like some of the old stuff. but every song i hear now is about either cars, bitches, drugs, gettin in fights in clubs, or something which means they cant think of any better lyrics. The way i see it..... when you by a rappers cd your giving him money..... and in turn he's rapping about what he's doin with the money you gave him.

second i hate country as well just a bunch of rednecks with the same voice singing to the same sound. Am i the only one who realizes this..... i feel like im taking crazy pills

just wanted to add that outkast is actually pretty good, and they play instruments and not just create beats, id like a lot more rap if they rap about something that matters (if only a lil bit) and actually have musical talent instead of letting machines do the work for them

very ignorant statement. Period. Then again, if you really don't know then I'll indulge, seeing as I rhyme myself and don't speak the nonsense you speak of. I'm not really a fan of the mainstream music market, but it's a tool of suppression just like television, movies, and slanted journalism.
The mainstream music beast has embraced commercialism and push negative aspects to a blown out proportion. Why? Because of the controlling powers (Rothchilds, Rockefellers etc) trying to get Americans in general to be souless and caught up on Materialistic idiocy, ESPECIALLY minorities. They employ these people as direct lines to the people they want to eliminate the most (as drugs, food additives, and the illegal taxes among other things aren't getting the job done fast enough) Those stereotypes that you mention are pushed by the financial backers of this stuff. there's a plethora of rappers that don't do this, but won't ever make it mainstream really. It's all about selling an image, just like employing athletes to sell sports apparel. they want to sell an image. Not a very good one at that, but that's what they've been doing to America for quite a while, pushing Materialism to the max. At the same time they make sure that education "systems" are just the latin equivalent of that word. These uneducated blacks as you called them then are the "teachers" of the young. It's all a system of destruction.

But it's not all of them. Just a few actually. But think about it. If one can make more money spewing these non-sensical lyrics than working a regular gig why not? It's a big mess.

Gone are the days of Rakim, decent KRS-one, Common before he lost his sense, and a lot of other people who had a message.

You want to know about the state of it all, then listen to these lyrics. Perfect explanation

and this was from 94...

I think your statement before was ignorant, but not because you are, ignorant just means uninformed really. If you don't know besides what you hear on the radio, that's cool.

Outkast started off like the very people you seem to dislike. Machines are a blessing and a curse at the same time. They don't cost like musicians and you can keep things, do redo, undo, loop, reverse, cut/ splice etc. Way more practical that musicians. Easier to learn to. At the same time tho, they don't have the soul and essence that live music does. Outkast aren't the only people who play instruments. Pharrel from the Clipse is a decent musician as well.

If you really want to know about rap, lemme know, I'll put you on to a lotta stuff.

If you like the live sound, listen to the Roots...

Interesting that you mention this when these issues have been the basis of music further back than any of were around. Take the Blues for instance; I can name a number of Blues songs that talk about anything from drug use to beating women to driving cars. Music is about the soul of the people who lived it, and if all you were ever exposed to your entire life was tragedy, then that's probably what you are going to reflect in your music. Take the life and music of Louis Armstrong for instance...a good number of his songs are based around smoking pot, having sex, or killing people. Louis lived a hard life (just research his early life if you don't believe me) and his music reflected just that. Another example of a piece of music is one performed by various Jazz artists throughout history. It's a song called "Lily Belle May June", which compromises some of the most racist, sterotypical, and "black faced" lyrics in the repotoire of Jazz. However, that is what makes it a great song...the unabated truth of the lyrics and their poignant rational of the time in which they were written.

The same thing goes for rap. It's purely the artform of a people that had very little but believed they had a lot to say. Music; including Rock, Rap, Jazz, Blues, and even Classical to some extent have always been about revolting against the status quo. Discussion of the hardships of life and the joys of life are ripe in the lyrics and performance styles of the people who lived those lives.

Yo acegotflows, well put man.

You did a fine job of paraphrasing all of the stuff that I was too angry to post initially. Its a shame that there are still people out there that show such an unbridled level of ignorance, but then again this is Amerrrca.

And props on the ComSense clip. Now tell em that those lyrics dont make sense. It like a poetic novel with beats.

I can't stand modern rap. I used to be a fan of rap but the new stuff is all too.... samey. I'm sick of listening to rappers, black, white or Asian, who make money by glorifying violence, womanising, drug use and all the rest of it.
Don't get me wrong, some raps are pretty good, some are amazing. But the vast majority are all the same vendetta promoting violent songs about pointlessness.

Rap, like every other genre evolved over time. Sure you may
dislike it, but people out there still buy the music because they enjoy
the new rap.
My cousins are 16-19 years old, and they enjoy rap. I asked them if they
knew Tupac and Notorious BIG, they have heard of them but they would not
recognize any song done by the artists.
I used to be a big fan of Tupac and BIG, but times change and everything
evolves.

WoW i happen to be a black man.and an aspiring hiphop artist or "rapper" as you called it and heres what i have to say.unbeknowst to you who are obviously ignorant to the details of the "rap" community the common belief off true hiphop artists is that the majority of whats being played on the radio and video channels is crap.so for that i dont take offense.but the reality is the record companies in alot of case withold artists from putting forth songs of acctual lyrical content and value amd replace it with the lean wit it rock wit and stuff thats out right now popular music is dictated by the lables not the fans .i refrence you krs-1,dead prez, common, mos def, matisyahu(a jewish rapper that raps in hebrew and all)if you have no knowledge of these types of rappers then i advise you to stop making uneducated remarks as to avoid making yourself look like an ass.that being said i find what you said to be mildy racist for the simple fact that one of the worst rappers in terms of vulgarity, and descriptive violencee, and advocacey of drug use is a white rapper named eminem....maybe you've heard of him.simply i can understand how you hear whats on the radioand think its crap because creativly it is.but you have to understand that the most repected artists in the hiphop commuinty stand for and recite lyrics based on the same fundamentals as ats.so i ask could they not be suffering from the same ailment as those who claim to witness a ufo and then get discredited as "crazy"by the powers that be?maybe they feel rappers were a threat to reach people an really say something so they put forth an uneducated front to the masses to discredit the rappers with a true message?so that when they say something important one could simply say....o dont belive them there just "uneducated blacks making nonsense songs over non sense instrumentals....im not mad at you but i am quite offended.grow your mind before commenting on something to big for it.
