Here's alink from the imfamous Fox News.

www.foxnews.com...

Students just out driving around having some adolesent fun. I remember building pipe bombs for fun and using them for fireworks too. NOT !!!

If I was of any type of Middle Eastern or Asia Minor descent and a supposedly, otherwise intelligent college student, I don't believe I would be driving around with Really Big Homemade fireworks in my car anywhere in America. But that's just me. Go figure, maybe it's just a cultural thing. Or maybe they are somewhat unstable and not as bright as they appear. Maybe they are Idiot Sevants or something!!

What do you guys think?

This is just flabberghasting...

It sounds more and more like these two kids were wanna-bes. Like the previous poster, I played with many a firework in my childhood -- that did not include pipe-bomb making. Seems to be a preresiquite for being a Muslim anymore, along with rock throwing, how to tie a menacing headkerchif and learning to love your AK47.

Oh well....what's even more startling is where these boys came from: Egypt and Kuwait.

Egypt, alright, I can see that. They have a significant radical population. But a Kuwaiti? I guess he's too young to still be grateful for us saving their butts from Sadam back in the 90's. What this shows is that today -- perhaps more than ever -- Arab and Muslim identity has little to do with the country you live in, but instead with the depths and twisted devotion you show to Allah.

IIRC, his family imigrated to Kuwaiti when he was a teen. They are originally from Egypt. IIRC.

The news thread is here.

FoxNews now carries this as one of their Latyest News items.

CNN discusses this as well; but you have to do a site search to find it. They are stating that the feds are disputing the pipe bomb claim.

It seems we have more of the same.

Look guys, Im not an explosive expert but IMO PVC does not make a good pipe bomb. There is a reason pipe bombs are made out of pipes and not plastic.
Sure, it might explode with a loud bang and it may injure anyone standing close enough, but IMO PVC just does not contain the initial reaction enough to cause a major explosion.

I have never made a pipe bomb but I have seen a few on TV specials.
Quite a few years ago NOVA had a show called 'the bombing of America' where they documented the ever increasing bombs going off around America.
I remember distinctly they had super slow motion footage of a metal pipe bomb going off, and I really think the common chemicals used for pipe bombs need to be contained in a rather strong vessel.
I could be wrong, but IMO 'pipe bombs' made out of PVC would be about as deadly as an M-80 firecracker.

Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt said the men were pulled over Saturday night on U.S. Highway 176 while driving more than 60 mph in a 45-mph zone. When an officer approached the car, he saw one of them men fold a laptop computer, which the officer believed was suspicious, DeWitt said.

Ya, Im going to keep watching my porn or doing my homework when being pulled over.

Everything is "suspicious" to some cops these days.

"Well it was pretty late so I thought it was suspicious that he was out"

Look at the big picture. The laptop all by itself is certainly no big deal. Tie it together with all of the other so called coincidences and you have a definte reason to wonder what might be on that laptop. Of course we may never know and these two could just be watching Pron while lugging around pipe bombs late at night hundreds of miles from home.

They were doing 60 in a 45. I fail to see why the laptop matters.

From my previous post, "Two young, Arab, Muslim males, non-citizens, possibly visa problems, drive from Florida to S.C. with pipe bombs and bomb making materials in their trunk, pulled over speeding in the vicinity of a naval base that has held terrorism suspects, and then shut down and stow their laptop as police officers approach."

Now when an officer recollects what happens to the media, etc. The laptop would seem odd when you add everything else up. Not to mention the media has stated that the laptop is being researched by the FBI. Maybe the will only find what most young males are looking at, who knows.

Ok, now they are putting their car through a large X-ray truck to search for more explosives.

My statement about building pipe bombs was extreme sarcasm. Although I did mess around with fireworks.
Look, the main point is that these 2 are just short of being morons, at best. Not every incident involving potential terrorism, or Arab or Persian males between 15-35 is a real event, nor is it some kind of Gov't. plot and setup.
These guys are not sharpest tools in the shed folks. Just like another posted, they may be wannabe's for Allah, or just of couple of jokers making homemade Roman candles. I'm sure the Fed's will contrive some kind of story to send them Gitmo. Just kidding!

Muuuuch more to this story, as it turns out.
Apparently, the FBI searched the boys' home in Florida, and the residence as a varied and sinister history.

Apparently, this residence has a history of terrorist suspect housing...

That location also happens to be the address of a home that had been previously rented World and Islam Studies Enterprise (WISE) one of two groups founded by convicted terrorist supporter Sami AL-ARIAN, who was also a professor at University of South Florida, which is the same university that MOHAMED and MEGAHED attend.

That address was also once used by Ramadan SHALLAH, a FBI Most Wanted terrorist.

Anyone here wanna change their theory about the boys being just naieve imbeciles with play pipebombs in their trunk to something darker?

Believe me I am the suspcious type but look at the latest update on this other thread.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Even though there are some strange pieces to the puzzle, it looks like there is not much to prosecute on. This one will get filed under the "who knows" cabinet.

I guess my hunch was correct.

The two students have been charged with explosives and terrorism activities.

I'll try to download the actual charges; it doesn't sound like there was an immediate plot by them, just the intention to learn bad things.
