This whole thing is just really disturbing. Though, after the many crazy laws that have been introduced lately, its not that surprising. Ever since Bush came into office our constitutional rights have basically ceased to exist. What rights will go next?

This story angered me too, that's why I posted it to begin with. It's not that we are condoning anything... it's not that we're just sitting back, watching the tube and letting America go to you-know-where in a handbasket... I think many of us just don't know what to do anymore, because nothing seems to be working!


Not to sound completely jaded, but sometimes if I wonder if the whole thing's been lost already, and we're just the last to know.

I agree with you completely. I think part of the problem is that the common citizen doesn't understand how vital their role is. I think the common notion these days is that the government is something separate and external from us as citizens. I think people have disconnected themselves from what once was a government run by the people.

I think a lot of people feel that our Bill of Rights is a list of things the government HAS to let us do. Rather our Bill of Rights is basically a list by which we can judge how well our elected officials are protecting our rights and freedoms.

I don't proclaim to have the answer, but I believe a very American answer is simply civil disobedience. They can't make us do things we just won't do. If you oppose the RealID then refuse to get one. If you oppose anything the government is now mandating then refuse to do it.

I believe, above all, that we need to wake people up to the truth that this is our country, not "theirs". People need to realize that our government exists for the sole purpose of serving the people and protecting our interests. Our government is guilty of repeated acts of outright blatant treason and the populous should refuse to accept it.

It is perfectly constitutional and in the spirit of American freedom that a group of people might band together and declare their intentions for self governance.

In this day and age I believe a violent revolution would only be detrimental. This is the age of information and any useful revolution will stem from the dissemination of information to those being governed.

The America you believed in is still alive and well, it's in the hearts of true patriots like ourselves. I feel that the majority of citizens still whole heartedly believe in the fundamental ideals this nation was founded on and if they were awoken to the truth they would not stand for treason such as this for one more day.

If a significant portion of the populous were to non-violently and civilly refuse to obey laws and orders they don't support the government would be powerless to do anything.

As I stated before, it is the citizens duty to keep the government in check. As an American citizen we have the right and duty to refuse to allow the government to do anything we feel is wrong. This nation is meant to be run by a rule of the majority and if the majority of the American populous refused to recognize these criminals as our leaders the government could do absolutely nothing.

The only power they have over us is that power which we allow them to have.
