Like a lot of people, I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, but I think my favourite is blues - delta blues.

The raw unsophisticated emotion filled tones can leave me breathless, close to tears or uplifted.

Big favourites are:
Robert Johnson
Leadbelly
Sonny Terry and Brownie Mcgee
Memphis Minnie
Son House
Big Bill Broonzy

I also listen to a friend of mine quite a lot, by the name of Tom Dale - a great guitar picker and slide player.

Check out "Mary" on his myspace page

Yes indeed budski.

My tastes in music run the complete range of genres. Although I am an avid guitarist, and concurr with your love of the Delta blues, I am an unabashed lover of rap and hip-hop. Not the normal new junk that you hear on the radio, but more underground/less heard-of artists.

Here are some faves:

Common
Little Brother
Talib Kweli
Kev Brown
Pete Rock
De La Soul
Slum Village
Rakim
Kenn Starr
Ill Poetic
Mood

The list goes on and on...

Some good music there Budski, thats for sure.

Obviously, being a Jazz musician you can guess who/what I probably listen to. Short list of some of my favorites:

Django Reinhardt
Stephane Grappelli
Ornette Coleman
Rashaan Roland Kirk
Oscar Peterson
Ella Fitzgerald
etc.

However, I do listen to quite an assortment of artists associated with Bluegrass, Classical, and the Blues:

Ralph Stanley
Claude Debussy
Albert King
J.S. Bach
etc.

I also have a penchant for typical 80's music from Duran Duran to Cindy Lauper. I also enjoy some newer music which I won't name as to not embarass myself too much (yes, I have been known to "rock out" to Fergie in the car...way to much information so I'll stop while I'm ahead).

I like virtually all music genres including Hard Rock, Metal, Swing, Rockabilly, Jazz, Blues, Hip-Hop, R'n'b, Flamenco, Irish music, etc.

But Metal is the music I listen to and like the most.

Some great bands/artists in my opinion:

Opeth
Dark Tranquillity
Tool
Nevermore
Queensrÿche
Metallica
Megadeth
Nujabes
Kraftwerk
Thin Lizzy
Gary Moore

I'll stop because I can go on for pages :p

Went to see Tom Dale at the Studio Bar last night, and as usual he was excellent.

The Studio Bar is an excellent music venue with FREE live music every night.

The beer's cheap too - only £2.50 for a pint of guiness - needless to say, I had too many

Check out the studio bar here:
www.studiobar.com...

They've also got streaming vid, so you can have a watch if you want.

A friend gave me a copy of Amy Winehouse, "Back To Black" and I have to say it's one of the best albums I've heard in a long time.
Haunting lyrics, soulful distinctive voice with a jazz feel accompanied by a kind of cypress hill drum beat, heavy bass and a great brass section.
A truly great album - now if she'd just lay off the drugs......

I like me some trance... mostly vocal trance like Oceanlab.

Also Goa Trance, like Shpongle/Hallucinigen. I know that dude's stoned when he writes his music.

I listen to just about everything, but I generally stick to Rock, in all it's forms.

Here's just a small list of some of my favorite bands:

AC/DC
System of a Down
Dream Theater
The Offspring
Evanescance
Seether
Tenacious D
Soil
Thin Lizzy
Aerosmith

Like everyone else, the list could go on and on.

Now, I do have a huge appreciation for Classical, and actually have a favorite composer.

Tchaikovsky.

I was in band for 6 years, and really fell in love with what he did. Amazing stuff!

i love the 80's but not the hair bands i like stuff to the tune of

depache mode
new order
the smiths
the cure
sisters of mercy
so on and so on

or even bands that sound like the 80's like the von bondies and the bravery. 80's rock im particular about my list for rock would have to be

aerosmith
def leppard
and so forth, but just like anyone else this is basically a fraction of an iota of what i listen to.

I'm definitely big on both metal and industrial, and naturally when the two mix. Naturally then, Al Jourgensen is my personal jesus
