Diamonds that can be spray painted!

news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9751285-7.html?part=rss&subj=new s&tag=2547-1023_3-0-5

"The company is working with Argonne and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to create high-speed telecommunications devices. ADT's diamond coatings are also being explored for use in retinal implants that would restore sight to the blind."

Given the properties in diamonds, resists heat and water and is biochemically inert, imagine an aircraft spray painted with it! no re-entry shields required!
What else do you think DARPA could do with this technology?

There's "resists heat", and then there's "RESISTS HEAT". Diamonds aren't resistant to reentry temperatures...they will ignite at between 700 and 800 degrees (Centigrade). They also aren't shock resistant....just ask a diamond cutter who happens to strike one in the wrong spot. So...spraying an aircraft with a diamond coating will basically add weight and cost. That's about it.
