Fair enough. So let's play fair then, shall we?

My question remains unanswered: From whence does the operative modifier "Functional" come from? Where is the rational for "a Ruined City".

I actually appreciate Mike's pictures - he scrounges and digs up some interesting stuff. What I don't appreciate is the wildly speculative and sensationalized titles and OPs always designed to raise the alarm bells (and glom for points, IMO).

Interesting pictures of celestial bodies are wonderful! Most of us here at ATS devour every square inch of them - keep them coming! We also do plenty of research and observing of our own.

Mars, the moon, and other celestial wonders are intriguing and magnificent on their own - the search and discovery of water, perhaps life itself, is certainly a worthy endeavor.

Why must we damage our collective credibility by trying to go the National Enquirer route with these beautiful images? Most respondents to the op clearly expressed utter disbelief and disappointment at being presented with just a SENSATIONAL title and copy teasing with talk of "Functional Bases", and "Ruined Cities" on Mars. WHERE ARE THEY?

No matter how hard I try and by using the full stretch of imagination - I don't see a "Functional ANYTHING", and nothing that resembles "Ruined Cities".

A few geometric shapes? I guess. A line or squiggly here or there? Maybe. But could these ALSO just as likely be natural features on the surface? Absolutely. If one were able to bet on this issue, and I gave 100:1 odds, most observers would still choose "natural feature" over "Functional Base".

So why not just share these fine images with us and present them as "unusual" or "interesting"?

The motto, indeed the "Mission" of ATS, is to Deny Ignorance. It is not to perpetuate it. And, imo, this type of sensationalized headline/op generation foments further ignorance rather than facilitate it's reduction. It has been a disturbing pattern.

OK - I'm done.
P.S. BTW Mike - I REALLY DO like your pictures! Can't you just tone down the wild speculations a bit . Perhaps back your assertions/ideas up with, I don't know, a little bit more in the way of details/rationale/demarcation/interpretation/justification/explication/diagnosis/clarification?

Do you see a city?? Where is it? A Functional Base? HOW is it functioning? Point to it. Point to the "functioning" part. We don't see it. We WANT to see it too! Explain yourself. Is that too hard? Otherwise it just seems your throwing any handful of mud you can find against every wall just to see if a few points might stick...

Reminds me of the google earth pics of the pentagon or area 51. It will be interesting if one day they actually tell us what is going on in the galaxy. Perhaps after they whittle the population down to 5oomillion...

I still don't know understand exactly what the scale is, but the "shapes" appear large, and the walls do appear to be raised walls. If they are raised above the surface, the "dry lake bed" theorists would have to explain how that would occur geologically. Look how straight and narrow they are. Are we looking at miles of terrain here? If so the features are remarkable for--if no other reason--sheer scale.

I would ask where these pictures came from and give me a link to go see what else they might have on them. From what you have posted, I see some terrain with Cool features but nothing uniformed like any ruins or bases. Post the link please. And a functional base not showing life forms may be normal but it would also show vehicles or ships. Something to move about i would think.

However, I do not believe that Mike deserves the sarcasm and ridiculous replies from some posters. If you have nothing interesting to add to a post...then for the love of God ignore it. Quit showing your ass by posting sarcastic and stupid comments.

Thanx Tx! I really don't mind seeing those types of comments. I've been here long enough and have become quite used to it now! Makes me laugh on a dull / drab day! Well, it takes all types to make this world..errr...I mean ATS! It's their birthright to ridicule with nothing constructive to offer. So be it!

But let's see who has the last laugh!

Cheers!

Are you sure aliens use our tech of 'vehicles' and 'ships'?!!

Ok. I had given the name of the site. All you had to do was google it. Anyway, here is the website of Joseph Skipper from where this was taken (With his express permission to do so!). Now if you have the time and inclination, go through it. There are pages of explanations which you'll probably find thought provoking!

marsanomalyresearch.com...

it looks like a secret military installation to me, complete with laser grids and air conditioners. Maybe whats happening is the aliens and government made a deal, if the martians rent out their old apartment on a 1000 year lease the martians can have Iraq, which is why this whole war is happening.

These are the type of empty threads I can't stand. Outrageo got it right when he equated this to seeing Jesus in a piece of toast or seeing bunnies in the clouds. Show me an actual close-up of a building on Mars and I will believe you. The pictures you have posted here appear to show nothing but rocks and terrain. Just like the "face on Mars." Does anyone here actually still believe that it really was an artificially constructed face?

Getting a close-up up high resolution of ANYTHING on ANY celestial body is the crux of the problem. If we can agree that we do indeed have the technology to acquire far superior image quality, then the questions become obvious.

Where are all the sharp close-up images from our lunar surface? They certainly aren't in the public domain.

Yeah! I guess you have to have the hide of a reptilian crockadillypig to survive some of the sarcasm I have read here! not only, it would seem, do we ‘deny ignorance’ – we walk slowly, carry a big stick and then chastise the bejeezus out of it with that big stick!

The OP does have a way with headline though, (it sure caught my attention!)
But at the end of the day, you should look at the story and either go “Pfft! non event and move on,” or think…! “S/He could have something here to think/research further upon”

I like the op that thinks outside the square, ‘cause, sure as sh*t the celestial traveler didn’t, that’s how they could overcome their own gravitational field and get here in short shrift! – just my 2cents!

Oh! and is that an eyeball on the top left of the first pic? Nah! must be swamp gas!

Exactly! You think NASA (or those who control them) would give you clear sharp hi res images of these anomalous areas? So that the world can see what they've been hiding from us? Knowledge of an advanced civilisation on the Moon or Mars would result in chaos - Panic, plunging stock markets resulting in a complete economic meltdown and changing geostrategic equations. In other words, a new world order! And the US of A wouldn't like that would it?

Cheers!

You have got to be kidding. There would be some outrage, but most people wouldn't care less and just continue on with their simple lives.

Another quality post from Iron Man. Without his and other like-minded members' insightful comedic relief, ATS would surely become a stagnant and desolate place

Thank you HaveSeen4Myself, I strive to bring a little levity to these
serious subjects.
I didn't know I had a history, I'm not very computer 'savvy' so please
forgive my ignorance. I know sometimes, my joviality here can be
taken in the wrong manner, I suppose I should 'knuckle down' like
the rest of my fellow ATSers and discuss these ideas with due reverence.

Again, I'm sorry...

I don't see anything but ridges. I've seen a lot more convincing photos before this one.

okay look, we've all seen more convincing things than this. Unless I've missed something, I think no one has said the pic looks convincing. I really don't think that it is anything, at least not that we can tell. Get an expert to tell me and I'll believe what I see in that pic is a functional base.
