RepRap is a 3D printer that prints objects made of plastic, layer by layer. It is fully open source, which means - the tech is FREE for everyone to copy and distribute. It costs around $400 to build. Requires a PC and their free software.

The parts are modeled in the software (3D modeling) and the software sends the info down the printer which extrudes the parts by using molten plastic. Now you can make anything you wish, even the printer itself.

I'm seriously planning to build one very soon.

Yup, its cool stuff.

Got a long way to go still though.
