Oi, stop trying to change the subject
I thought we were discussing whether Gore should have accepted a meaningless bet

I'm getting confused whether I'm arguing for or against him now!

Strange how I am not confused. We aren't talking about strip mining for coal, so scratch that one. We aren't talking about any kind of illegal dumping, another off the list. We aren't talking about how we -should- be living "greener" lives... Where's the confusion?

I would have liked Gore to take the bet, but what does it matter?

Annan has asked numerous 'sceptics' to make bets and most have refused. None of this means anything to the actual issue.

No comments on all the other information contrary to the idea? I'm sorry if this confuses anyone, I don't see how considering we are talking about the beliefs on global warming that Al Gore perpetrates. Not talking about other issues. (dumping, mining, carbon footprint, etc)

Who cares if he is a fraud? Even if global-warming is a farce, humans are destroying this planet, and at least Gore is getting some sort of message out there.

^ Absolutely.

Heck, this planet is the only place humans have to live. What doesn't justify the end?
Whether Gore's a stinking pile of dog waste or our modern Knight in Shining Armour, he is getting *the* positive message out to people, i.e. the message that says we need to realize the negative effects we are having on this blue ball.

If you are talking about the science behind Gore's position, there are a number of threads that focus on that.

But if you're interested in how I feel about Gore's stuff, he overstates certain issues, he is correct on the science in many others. Overall, I'd rather he didn't get involved due to his politcal baggage - it doesn't help get the science over to those with a political axe to grind.

Get it right.

Let's save the Al Gore lauding/bashing threads for existing Al Gore threads... particularly when they link to older stories and much older websites. Fragile Earth is turning into a web of these microarguments and is losing focus on its real focus -- things that are happening to the Earth that are of concern and interest to all of us.

This one's closed. Please continue your discussion in the many other excellent threads we have on this topic.
