Cindy Sheehan considering a run against Speaker of the House Pelosi

sfgate.com

Six weeks after announcing her departure from the peace movement, Cindy Sheehan said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That's when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour

Its going to be tough to defeat an incumbent in this day and age and Pelosi still has alot of support in her district. However, at the very least Sheehan may make her work for her office as opposed to the rubber stamp election she usually gets

My 1st thought was Great! Dirty Sheehan runs as an Independent against Democrat Pelosi...maybe a Republican could sneak in and win this seat.

But then I thought...A Republican elected in San Francisco...not going to happen. Oh well.

The way I look at it now, the more Dirty Sheehan is in the news the better!

Run Cindy Run!!!

In many ways I feel sorry for Sheehan...

The hate she harbors has led to the disgrace for her son's life long commitment and devotion as well as her complete destruction as a serious person...

I have no idea what it is like to hate so much you do the things she has done and say the things she has, and I don't want to find out...

She has about as much a chance as I do in that election...

Shame to waste a life. But it was her choice..

OH MAN .. I just posted this in Political Figures ... DRATS!

CIndy Sheehan said a few weeks back that she was going to 'retire'. She wasn't going to be in the spotlight and that she was going to try to repair her family (the one that she's been neglecting all these years ... the marriage that fell apart .. the family members she alienated ..etc etc)

Guess her 'retirement' was short lived, eh?

She missed the cameras.

I just hope there's mud involved. I mean when two nasty skanks go toe-to-toe, there really has to be mud involved.

... or jello.

I think San Francisco voters may just be crazy enough to take Sheehan seriously. If so, Pelosi is going to have to go off the scale to the left to fight her, which is only going to provide great fodder for the Republicans.

The woman has suffered, i give her that, but this is right up there with me becoming president.
I probably have better credentials than she does.

She should be medicated.

Nothing is funnier...

Than seeing an owner bitten by their own dog...

And it's not the first time this rabid stray has bit the hand that's fed it:

It will be refreshing to hear the words "the distinguished Republican Congressional representative for the people's republic of San Francisco."

I agree, its sad her son died but he made the choice to serve and she should respect that, he was not drafted he chose to fight and die for his country or whatever his reason for joining the US Army was. I truly feel she has some serious underlying mental issues.

What is wrong with you? All Cindy wanted was to speak with Bush regarding her son. He wouldn't give her the time of day. Bush could have spoken with Cindy- but no its like going through Fort Knox.

You all should know the difference between right and wrong. Blind loyalty and true loyalty. You don't like the way things are demand answers. I think both sides of our government the D's and the R's are corrupted. Sorry to get off topic a little but its time to do something. Are you gonna wait for another Cindy Sheehan go home defeated and broke?

As Americans we have to step up and do what is right.

I'm with Semper on this one; I feel pity for Ms. Sheehan. Her hate has blinded her. What a sorry waste of her life. She lost more then just her son by her actions; she's lost any chance of being taken seriously.

It could prove interesting for San Francisco however. We'll have to wait and see.

Bush DID meet with Dirty Sheehan. Sheehan wanted a 2nd meeting, which was properly turned down. How many people get a special meeting with the President of the United States, then a few weeks later demand a 2nd one? Not many.

Bush kissed Sheehan on the cheek in their 1st meeting for Goodness sake.

An "activist" and I use that term loosely, versus a veteran politician? Not a snowballs hope in hell. Media stunt, nothing more.

I didn't need to question the womans sanity or call her names to make my point though. Congrats guys, you've confirmed my thoughts of what's wrong with ATS.

Intrepid,

I don't believe I insulted Ms. Sheehan; I merely stated that I believe her hate has blinded her. I feel an immense amount of pity for her. Being filled with hate isn't good for anybody; that much hate will ruin any one's life.

No GH, I wasn't referring to you. In fact I agree with what you're saying. Hate is a consuming emotion.

While I admire Sheehan's reasoning, I have to admit, I don't see her gaining near the support (even in San Francisco) she'd need to unseat Pelosi. I mean, let's face it, Pelosi is no Hillary Clinton. She is a respected, very well-connected (and classy) politician. And the most powerful elected representative behind the president and vice president.

All I can say to Sheehan is good luck with that.:shk:

That's the advantage of political "rabies."

It doesn't matter what reality is... You're still going to foam at the mouth and try to bite anyone that comes near you.

She'll get more than her fair share of press... And the unwashed disaffected malcontents which make up a disturbing slice of the San Francisco voter demographics will claim they support her. The question is to those folks... Is there enough illicit narcotics still available on Haight-Ashbury to allow you to pull the Sheehan lever on election day... Or will common sense creep in to those liberal addled minds and almost do the right thing?

Fun part is... We're going to get to find out.
