A while back Thebadge had a rant about Avril, and I in all honesty defended her saying she writes her own music yadda yadda yadda!

Boy was I off base!

To The Badge. Girl I is sorry. You are completely right!

She is a complete beeee aaaaaat ch. Even if she didn't steal this song herself, then the people around her must have known! They must pay people to make sure this kind of thing dosen't happen. Plus she completely mustn't write her own songs!

I feel cheated and I feel dirty.

Actually I always feel dirty.

Please place your horrid plagiarism hater comments in this thread.

Actually, the outside arbitrator who is some sort of music/lyric expert (who'd have ever guessed there'd be such a thing?) determined there wasn't enough evidence of plaigarism to proceed with the lawsuit. Hope that fortifies your confidence in your songwriter hero, CM.

Man i hear songs everyday that have "stolen" music or lyrics from other artists. Theres only so many notes you can play.
I took my daughter to see Avril last year and was pleasantly surprised by her ability, at least she can actually play 3 or 4 instruments unlike some of the crap "artists" on Video Hits every saturday morning.
Much ado about nothing.

Hmmm That sounds like the decision going were the money is! To me anyhow.

I liked the fact the she could play and write herself, in honesty she's a little bit to poppy for my tastes. (her music that is cos she's HOT!)

[rant]Too poppy!! Compared to what, Pussycat Dolls, Britney, Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson, at least she can actually play an instrument even if the music is written for her.[/rant]

Plus she has really nice eye's.

Totally agree with the eye bit!

Compared to Muse and Green Day for a start! Like I said "My taste". In general I quite like her music, but it's not something I would for example put on my ipod, have it in itunes yes (the wife likes her too). but not on mypod.

to the OP, *usually* anyone who sells out to a major record label does not write any of their own music. Thats why underground, or Indy is *some* of the best!!!

notice I stated Usually, so thats not always.
and some, so not all.

If the Rubinoes have a case against Avril Lavigne, then surely the Rolling Stones have a case against the Rubinoes?

Plaigarism, or co-incidental similarities, are pretty commonplace anyway these days. With only so many combinations of notes and chord progressions in any one key, its pretty rare to find a completely original new song.

For example Noel Gallagher would be the first to admit that a fair few riffs from the first Oasis album are lifted directly from T-Rex and Beatles records.
