Has anybody else seen this trailer? All the other links on YouTube have been taken down, so watch it before this one is removed as well. So what do you think it's about? Huge monster? Aliens? Looks pretty good whatever it is.

Reminds me of the videos that were going around on the internet for the Nine Inch Nails album Year Zero. The story going along with that album is apparently going to be made into a movie within the next year or two.

They all featured an "entity" they called "The Presence"

I think the trailer looks awesome, personally.

A lot of people are speculating that it's going to be about Cthulu, but I don't really think that's it. Doing a pretty good job at being mysterious. It better not be a disappointment, considering the stir it's causing!

Have you guys seen this game that's supposedly (I'm not sure how) related to the movie? I finished it... tricky, but anticlimactic.

This site has a lot of info on the movie and its ties on the net.

I seen the trailer on the web yesterday, and it peaked my curiosity no end!

I've been to ethanhaaswasright.com and solved the puzzles. Intriguing stuff.

After reading through a lot of hints, opinions and rumours I would have to disagree and say that this will be a movie about Cthulhu. I know there is already another movie out there but well, that has Tori Spelling in it so it's liable to be a piece of crap. Not that I'm a huge J.J Abrams fan or anything (Alias was good but I never really saw the appeal with Lost).

It's been many years since I read any of the Mythos, I'm sure some of the teaser info relates to the Old Ones. I can't really say anything specific because my mind is still addled from all that I've been reading! Sorry.

A lot of people are saying it's going to be Godzilla, based on the roar. I doubt it, Godzilla was remade (poorly) not so long ago, besides which, the rights are owned by a different production company.

I REALLY would love it to be a (good) movie about Cthulhu!

"In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

Cthulhu fhtagn no more...

Cthulhu wouldbe great! But, I don't think it's him, because the trailer showed the monster arriving in the middle of a city from the ground.

Cthulhu is supposed to arrive from an island in the sea, or some underwater area.

Right?

I haven't seen it, but I hear the Tori Spelling Cthulu movie actually has nothing to do with Cthulu itself, so it's possible that this is what it's about... but I am really not detecting a connection. Isn't the only reason people are thinking it's a Cthulu movie because of a comment on the ethanhasswaswrong blog? Anyone can comment, so anyone could have put some cryptic text there to throw people off.

Does anyone know how the movie and the Ethan Haas site are related? Both the videos --the trailer and the clips from the Ethan Hass site-- were removed from YouTube by Paramount, but does that mean they're from the same production? Assuming they are related, we'll have to wait until August first to get any more info about it. :]

The best, will be the new "At the Mountains of Madness" movie!

Holy Crap, how nuts that will be.

i really hope the movie has to do with et's and is well done (unlike independence day). I sincerely hope this movie has nothing to do with terrorism. Im sick of movies and television using terrorism as entertainment (especially in NY).

Also, if this movie has anything to do with godzilla or voltron then i dont even wanna hear any more about it.

If that ethanhaaswasright puzzle has anything to do with the movie, I doubt it has anything to do with godzilla
, Unless there's a new plot twist that involves a special superweapon from location X to kill / protect / enhance person / creature / entity Y

yes.

i am sick of the terrorism brain washing crap day in day out..

only 12000 americans killed over 5 years from terrorist activity but EVERY YEAR 566000 AMERICANS KILLED BY CANCER.

NO MENTION ON THE MASS MEDIA OF THIS.

566000

566000 KILLED BY CANCER.

when you are in bed tonight think about the 566000 killed by cancer.

spar a few thoughts for them...

tell your friends and relations...566000

ask them to do the same...spread the wod...

phone your tv station...

tell them.

demand why they never mention the 566000 dead americans from cancer.
...

why is it taboo?

why?

Personally, I'm totally psyched for this movie.
It is a giant monster movie.
In fact, I happened upon a site where some guys went to an advance screening and wrote up the entire synopsis.

www.1-18-08news.com...

Keep in mind, this is as big of a spoiler as you can get, but it sounds so awesome.

I am completely obsessing about this movie, and I likely will continue to be obsessed with this movie until I see it, lol.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with Cthulhu, and that EthanHaaswasright thing doesn't have anything to do with it either.
Matt Reeves(the director) has said repeatedly that this monster is completely new. This movie is not a remake in anyway. And the Ethan Haas thing is just a viral campaign for an RPG, similar to D&D I think.

The legit websites seem to be so far:
1-18-08.com/
www.cloverfieldmovie.com...

And all the Myspace things for the characters. Thats it. Everything else seems to either be for something else, or is a fake.

This movie is competly and utterly fantastic. It's one of the best movies I've seen in years!

I won't say anything to spoil it, but I'll just say this: If you haven't seen it, make plans to. You will not be disappointed!

Oh, if you get motion sick really easily, you might want to take something for that before watching.

The monster was described as "an outraged behemoth" ... and sounds very intriguing.

source

It is being shown next week on our base and I can't wait to see this one!
I too am hoping it won't be as disappointing as the other, predictably boring, movies Hollywood has been throwing up the last year.

edit to add - wow I just saw on imdb.com that it was released in Australia a day BEFORE it was in the USA which I find surprising because Aus is usually behind on movie releases. Wonder why this is hmmm.

When I think about it, Cloverfield is one of those movies that either you're going to REALLY like or your going to REALLY hate. I happen to be in the first group, so I'm gonna give it 2 big thumbs up!

The monster was amazing! Giant, powerful, and angry as all get out!

Yeah, that would be a very good idea.

saw it last night. absolutely, utterly, terrifyingly awesome. it was so realistic i had goosebumps. i agree, if you get motion sickness easily, take something first. but yea, wow. i actually had nightmares last night that i think were caused by Cloverfield. i think it impacted me that much, sub-consciously. brilliant.

I saw the 1st midnight showing and honestly, I didn't really like it.
Actually, no one in the whole theater really liked it.
Too much "blah blah blah" and not enough monster-destroying-city-action.
You hardly even get to see it which I was particularly disappointed about.
*sigh*

I like this movie more and more everytime I think about it after getting back. It's #ing intense, and the movie doesn't spoon feed you information. You have just as much knowledge of what's going on as the characters do. It's a new feeling, when you can't say "Don't go upstairs you idiot, the killer is hiding behind the door!" "Gawd, this movie is soooo predictable"

There is no mad scientist who spills the beans, there is an ambiguous ending, there are no 'war room meetings', there is no presidential speech, there is no American flag waving, there is just an enormous monster who came out of nowhere and is indestructible.

Fortunately, we get to experience the craziness first hand, as witnesses.

Thats why i like the movie also. You know what they know, which happens to be what you see. If this happened in your city, you'd know just about the same amount of info as them. Everyone keeps asking and complaining there wasnt enough of the monster. The monster isnt the premise of the movie, its these people trying to get out of the city. Besides, most people want to avoid giant monsters instead trying to get good shots of it
The ambiance is what sells it for me,also is seemed this movie was a lot louder than most. The street level tank battle in particular.
