"Homeland Security" chief Michael Chertoff : "We don't really have the ability to enforce the law with respect to illegal work in this country in a way that's truly effective." I thought thats what "Homeland Security" was supposed to do,enforce the law,and protect America.How arrogant.

That's about what I figured. Their horse # amnesty bill didn't make it through, so they are going to proverbially flip off the American public by not doing anything. While I am enraged, I can't say that I am a bit surprised.

Idiot. Why don't they at least check to see if the SSNs are valid?

I'm confident that security could be made much tighter using just existing laws; however, I do agree in principle to a new type of social security/national ID card that is more secure.
