3rd image added - Someone please tell me what I saw...

Here are a couple of PHOTOSHOP images I CREATED to help illustrate what I saw coming home one night. I was traveling at night on a fairly busy highway that often has numerous airplane ad helicopter lights in the sky, but this I just can't figure out. The first image represents my best memory of the lights. They appeared like traditional aircraft lights, but not in any recognizable pattern that I can figure out. I first noticed them out of the corner of my left eye and I kept glancing over to see what kind of craft it was (while doing the curious dog head tilt). The L shaped lights first appeared about an inch high to my outstretched hand. I keep expecting the shape to change like I was seeing a plane doing a turn, but the shape never changed - just got smaller and smaller in the sky until I lost track of it (as if I was seeing something traveling directly away from me in a straight line). The center light blinked in a fairly familiar way and I'm not sure if other lights were blinking or not or which were red and which were amber or whitish. But, I made sure to remember the pattern. Again, I'm sure there is a good explanation for them - I just haven't figured it out yet.

Any ideas???

B-2 stealth Bomber?

I don't think it could have been the underside of any plane as it was low in the sky and moving directly away from me, not up, not turning, just away and slightly to the right.

Ditto with previous post. Most likely this is some sort of military aircraft with a "delta wing" design. It wouldn't necessarily be a B-2, could be something still in the classified stage.

Thats a good idea ps-ing the pics to illustrate but to me it looks like a plane jet whatever.
Ive always wondered why would ETs need lights, doesnt that seem silly.
First of all if they wanted to make contact they would just make contact.
however if they wanted to remain hidden they definetly wouldnt have lights. So why would they have lights?
Just doesnt make sense flying around with lights for all to see then shooting off into space evrytime.

Who says that ET can see the lights? maybe to ET they are invisible, and it doesn't occur to them to hide them.

What if we made a car that had a built in whistle, due to it's construction, that was so high frequency that only dogs could hear it, or bats? We might be a long time figuring out that they even noticed us. To us it would make no sound at all, but really it would light up the sky to a bat or dog.

Just thinking outside the box.

Again, for it to be a delta wing type plane of some sort, it would have had to be tilted on it's side, pointing downward, yet moving steadily away, not quickly - just steadily, away from me.

It was more like the rear end of a helicopter or smallish plane with extra lights in an odd pattern.

Could be anything! Animal that flew through some Christmas lights that someone left on by accident, perhaps?

Here's my logic:

If it's civilian, it's either somebody's "backyard experiment"
If it's commerical, it probably wouldn't have lights like that and be moving in such directions, and be quiet at that.
If it's government, it's probably some kind of aircraft that is experimental.
(Unless you're mistaken about altitude, and they were just a formation of jets that were really high up?)

If it's none of the above, It's an ET. That's my rationale.

Tell me, from what you experienced, what was it most like from the above?

I've always wondered that myself - why would they have lights at all?. And I'm pretty sure this wasn't an alien craft , but it COULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE UNDERSIDE OF ANY PLANE (assuming that's what you're all thinking) because of the direction it was going.

I couldn't tell if it was making any sound or not, being in my car on the highway. My best guess is that it was a helicopter with more lights showing than I've seen before. I've asked friends who are very familiar with aircraft lighting and they are stumped. One suggested it was a blimp with only some of it's advertising lights turned on. I've seen lots of blimps at night and I don't think it could have been that.

You make a good point NG which leaves the question are the lights the engines or something.
Im a little skeptic on the ETs not knowing they are lighting up, them being inteligent and all.
To me that would be a silly mistake and im sure they are very smart. They would have to be if they are arriving to earth from a great distance.
But i guess it is possible.

Now I'm stumped. Maybe it could be some kind of government helicopter?
And I'm sure the lights would reflect atleast somewhat onto the blimp's baloon part.

Regarding aliens and lights: If the aliens couldn't see the lights, I doubt they would be arranged in such ways.

One theory to explain lights on UFO's kind of made sense to me. Perhaps the "engines" do produce some visible light that can not be camouflaged. So instead, they add more traditional aircraft like lights to add confusion...

Yeah, and as a metaphor humans are the dogs chasing the garbage trucks

(Hypothetically if garbage trucks had whistling noises only dogs could hear that humans don't know about, as in one of the above posts...)

They already have whistles like that on cars to scare away deer so they do not get caught in the headlights and freeze up.

What if the lights are part of the antigravity process and are necessary for flight?

What if the lights themselves are crafts flying in formation?

It's hard to say exactly what it was, but I would tend to side that it was some sort of aircraft in the landing configuration. Sometimes the lights are just on the wing which can give the impression that it has a delta shape when it's really not.

For those saying it might have been a secret aircraft, well, usually, they're trying to hide those and so you probably wouldn't see one all lit up like a X-mas tree.
