HOLY COW!!! I wasn't that big into wrestling but I know this guy was pretty popular. That fact that they killed his wife and 7 year old son is horrendous!!! I wonder why this happened?

Im like you, I dont follow wrestling but I have seen this Benoit guy as I flipped though the channels from time to time.

This is wild crazy, kill him, his wife, and his son!
So sad.
I wonder if it has anything to do with steroids in the WWE?
Or perhaps he was going to expose the nWo ?

Seriously, if this isnt some random act of violence then it is definatly somebody saying "DONT DO AS HE DID!"

I hate wrestling, especially the porn-related trash they have now.

The interesting thing about this case is that even though it is being investigated as a homicide, there are no external signs of trauma to the bodies. Of course, there are ways to kill someone without leaving marks, but to kill three people that way is a more than a little unusual.

I'm certain there's a lot that isn't being released to the media regarding the crime scene evidence, so this one will be interesting to watch.

I wonder if Greta van Susteran will pick this one up or just stick with Paris Hilton for thirty minutes each show?

SO many wrestling affiliated ppl pass, this year Sensational Sheri, Bam Bam Biggelow and now Benoit.

The case is a suspected murder/suicide.

Wrestling star Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and their 7-year-old son, Daniel, were found dead in their suburban Atlanta home Monday. The deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide, authorities told ABC News.

[Lieutenant Tommy] Pope said "the instruments of death were located on scene," but he would not specify what those instruments are or where in the house the bodies were found. Pope added the department is "not actively searching for any suspects outside of the house."

Detective Bo Turner of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, and the station reported that investigators believe that Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend, then killed himself on Monday.

I dont give a crap about this guy if he killed his wife and son. Especially his son; he would have no reason to kill a child all of you saying you feel sorry for him is crap feel sorry for his son who was only seven.

your right but this pisses me off so much when a person kills a child it just never makes since at all. No matter what him and his wife did the son had nothing to do with it.

I used to be a wrestling fan when i was younger, now i like MMA because its actually real, but thats neither here nor there.

Chris Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time and I am saddened to hear about this tragic event.

I honestly don't think Chris Benoit could do something like this. I wonder if he didn't come home to find his wife and son already murdered, and then decided to take his own life. WWE has more information that they have been asked by the police not to release at this time.

Chris Benoit wasn't exactly what I would call "jacked up" so I doubt that it is steroid related, I can't figure what possible motive he could have for killing his wife and 7 year old son.


For those of you who aren't wrestling fans, Chris Benoit was a member of 4 man tag team called, The 4 Horsemen. And he was trained by Stu Hart whos son Owen Hart died in the wrestling ring when the cable cord that was supposed to lower him from the rafters down to the ring snapped and he fell to his death.

This is absolutely shocking.

Whomever is the guilty party, they deserve an eternity in the depths of hell. Murder is a disgusting act as it is, but when we are dealing with a 7 year old child, it is absolutely unthinkable.

Very interested in seeing how this develops.

I doubt his wife could of forceably made him a 240lb muscle man die from hanging.

it was a hanging? i didn't see that reported anywhere. All i heard is that the wife and son died during the weekend and then chris benoit took his own life on monday. And that the bodies didn't have any sign of confrontation.

This doesn't add up. there must be other details that we are missing.

Maybe the son killed himself, or the wife accidentally killed the son ... then she took her own life, then chris benoit found both of them dead and he took his own life.

Here is the Latest Update ...

An autopsy will be performed today on Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and his son Daniel. Toxicology results are expected to take a few weeks to come back, but authorities expect the autopsy results to confirm their determination that the deaths were the result of a double murder-suicide.

Authorities suspect Benoit killed Nancy and Daniel sometime over the weekend and then killed himself sometime on Monday.

As 1Wrestling.com reported yesterday, Benoit had been scheduled to fly to a WWE house show on Saturday but called and said he was taking a later flight because Nancy and Daniel were ill. He called back later in the day and said he would not be coming to the house show because of the illness and said Nancy and Daniel were throwing up blood.

On Sunday, Benoit did not appear at Vengeance and was replaced at the last minute by Johnny Nitro. WWE did not announce in advance that Benoit was not going to appear because they were not certain whether he was en route to the show or if he remained home. At some point during the day on Sunday, Benoit apparently sent text messages (believed to have been to Chavo Guerrero) that concerned WWE officials and caused them to alert local authorities and to ask them to go to the Benoit home to check on the family.

When police arrived at the home there was nothing out of the ordinary outside the house. The gate was latched, dogs were running around outside, and there was no sign of forced entry. Upon entering the home, police found the bodies of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel in three separate rooms.

The news of the deaths sent shockwaves through the wrestling world as friends and coworkers frantically tried to find out what had happened. Speculation ran rampant but virtually nobody believed Chris Benoit would be capable of murdering his wife and son. Some, who were close to Benoit, knew that he and Nancy had a rocky relationship but police were quoted in published reports as saying they had not been dispatched to the residence in the past for any reports of domestic violence.

This is horrific.
Horrific and sad.
I love wrestling, but I don't like the WWE.
I have been a fan of Benoit since his unknown days back in WCW and this is truly sad to me.

However, we still have no idea as to how this happened.
It is very strange.

There are so many ways that this could have happened.
Perhaps he killed them both.
Or his wife killed his kid and he then killed her and himself.

We just don't know.

All we do know, is that this world is a little less bright now that we're missing him.
He was a brilliant performer.

I don't know if he hung himself or not it's just a rumour making the rounds but yeah so it's ruled that his wife and son died before him??? He just snapped or something while his family where ill if they actually were ill from the sounds of that article.

As of the last I read, and this is so strange, Chris strangled his wife and smothered his son Sunday night. He took his own life on Monday.
What shocks everyone in the buisness is that Chris Benoit was THE family-man of the WWE. His own family was everything to him and that is really odd.
As to those that explode with hate and outrage here, you have NO idea what happened in those 24 hours at the Benoit home. You can get upset with the senseless death of a 7 year old. I understand that. But you have very little information to pass any sort of Judgement until more comes out.

My heart goes out to his surviving son and daughter. To the WWE family which feel his absence as much as his family. My heart goes out to the fans who enjoyed what Chris Benoit did. DAMN! He did it well. Any fan of professional wrestling was a fan of Chris Benoit. He was a spectacular technical wrestler and I enjoyed his matches very much. He was a force on the mat and went over and beyond EVERYTIME.

He will be missed.
