i wonder in the bill s89, has anything to do with bush's illegal mexicans coming into the country and/or a coming draft? i saw a story of a solider in Iraq stating that they could not pay him enough to stay in Iraq, so why not use people from other countries. i tried to link to this bill but i couldn't get it to work. just go to www.congress.org and type s89 in the search to read about it.

You know what that is an excellent observation

I was having trouble understanding the reason for the immigration bill in the first place but that could be part of the plan. But I still don't see this being the only reason why.

I'm pretty sure I'll get flamed for this...but IMHO it could be that since most americans won't do the work that Mexicans and other immigrants WILL do, they have decided to let them in to boost the economy

Why would you get flamed for that statement? I think that might be another good reason why Bush is pushing for it. Mexican's will do almost anything and they don't complain about it, they are just hard workers.

Why? cause at times it just seems (again this my opinion) if none of the statements in a post include ripping America to shreads, then the person posting is just wrong and works for the goverment etc. So I have become a little "timid" in posting my thoughts. Here is a good example.

So thats how it is huh? I'm either one of the "bad" guys or a lost soul seeking answers? Why because my opinions differ from yours?
I wish we could live in a perfect society, where we all got along and no one cared what the other did as long as it caused no harm or damage to anyone, but regretfully that will not happen for a long time, not until greed, poverty, hunger, hatred and so many other needs and are erased.
I may not agree with your opinions or ideas, but I will die defending your right to express those ideas and opinions. "
QED

That was the reply that I got when I posted my thoughts on having to give up cetain freedoms when the US is at risk of being attacked ....

I just don't see the draft connection

dont think it is feasable to get a large influx of mexicans/foreigners (I don't want this become anti-mexican in anyway), get them legalized in 3 years and then draft them.

if what you say is true about the USA soldiers not wanting to return....a draft would probably be implemented sooner than the time it would take to make these foreigners citizens.

Perhaps, Bush has plans to draft Americans and use foreigners to fill their jobs and keep the ecomony going while the Americans get killed in whatever war he is fighting at the time.

I found that statement hilarious...

Well...just looked at my sig as far as your opinion on giving up freedoms

But you are right about the reason why they want to let mexicans into the u.s....it is exactly why..Im pretty sure that is one of the major reasons listed for it..because they will do the work we dont want to for next to no money..and no benifits..and of coarse..no overtime ..

If the US opened up our military for consription from other countries, I think you would be surprised to learn just how many foreigners would sign up (assuming that foreign-born soldiers got the same treatment and benefits as Americans).

When I was in the Navy, the were many sailors who were from the Phillipines in the Navy. It seemed that the US military and the Phillipines have shared a very special relationship since WWII, and Congress allowed certain Filipinois to enlist. The only drawback was that they were not eligible for a security clearance. As a result, many jobs such as Mess Cook, Storekeeper, Disbursing Clerk, Yeoman, Personnelman, etc., were manned by Filipinos. Filipino cooks were everywhere, and most Navy vets know and love filipino cooking as a result.

Just think about it. If you were an uneducated Mexican, wouldn't you join the US military? Free medical for you and the familiy. Free housing. Good benefits. Decent pay (compared to picking lettuce in a field), education opportunities, even a retirement plan. All you have to really be able to do is be physically fit and speak english reasonably well.

What do you think?

Oh yes, they're infamous for their infallible work ethic
... No, they'll just do it for less than minimum wage. That appears to be the idea, a way to allow employers to use illegals and pay less than minimum wage...legally... Uh-huh....good plan...

I'd rather take a pay cut and see some machine gun towers go up on the border....

Gazrok,

here in Canada I find that immigrants are famous for wanting to work for cash! Yeah that's right no taxes! Even though we have been told for years that they contribute more than the natives I find that almost every single one of them I ever meet hates taxes! Remember they often come from countries where there are few taxes and or few people pay them.

Now on the subject of soldiers for uncle sam, I was shocked to find out that the US military was recruiting Canadian Native Indians on reserves up here! Yeah surprising cause they need more recruits. Seems the natives are good soldiers and well known to militaries in Canada and the US and well sought after. Some local politicians complained but then the story disappeared so I assume it is still going on.

Increasingly I am hearing that Canadians are volunteering for service in the US as the opportunities and pay are much better down there. I guess everyone turns a blind eye because there is a need for more recruits.

Right, and that is my point. They can enjoy many of the benefits of being in the US, but without paying taxes to support those benefits. They've been doing this for years, illegally, and now it seems Bush wants to make this legal! I guess people are not seeing that if some illiterate nonskilled illegal can easily get into the country this way....how hard would it be for a financed terrorist? This however, isn't about terrorism, it's about robbery from the US citizens...unless of course Bush's plan involves taxation...but from what I've heard so far, it doesn't....

Seems like a clever ploy though... Lets play to the hispanic voters and big business at the same time!

Hey NetStorm, yeah your right and I had to live with it being half american and sometimes it wasnt funy even if I did grow up in a middle class family. But living in europe know I see the same here, all the emegrants (sepelling?) work at mac donalds or klean after their bosses and they do a hell of a job but nobody seems to notice it any way because their to busy making money. Well just don't forget how picks up your trash and coocks your fast food

I think that's the plan b/c Americans will balk at this draft thing.

But this will soon backfire. The American people will not accept this final insult on the American worker. Karl Rove, who assisted on the immigration bill, has yet to step on a landmine. This may be it if it ain't the CIA leak.

This bill just further pushes down American wages in a race to the bottom. And who's to blame? The repugnants. And what will this lead to? American unemployment, more racism ("them Mexicans are taking American jobs,"), more exploitation of the American worker and the darker peoples of the world.

This is ALL repugnant doings, people!

exactly what benifits do they enjoy while robbing us of our tax money as you have stated??roads?what else is their, they cant get welfare or health care..their children are allowed to attend public school if they are born here..but other than that..i think most tax dollars get robbed from you not from mexican workers..but simply by your beloved government..oh and if you do some reasearch you will find out most illegal do pay taxes..they have fake documentation and recieve regular paychecks...and if you have a problem with people getting payed cash..thats not their fault..thats the employers fault..i have had under the table jobs before..you have not???

but they do get benefits, they buy fake social security numbers, enroll their kids into public schools, take advantage of the welfare system and medicaid...isn't that taking advantage of the system?

yes they pay taxes, but usually very little, because they claim tons of dependents on their taxes and because they work for so cheap, they don't have to pay that much in taxes anyways, they get tons of exemptions.

don't get me wrong, I support immigration...I am an immigrant myself, but as I stated before I had to spend years away from my mom and relatives, while waiting for the legal process to work.

i still believe this whole thing is about votes and as someone mentioned "big business" profiting.

ok maybe some of them are able to get medicare or whatever..honestly to me..i dont care..let them..they are just people like me and you..no better no worse...i have a job..most people do...and if the people that do not have a job..im sure there are many motel cleaning, road crews, and orange picking jobs with many open positions but they simply would not do such work[not all are like this, but most for sure]

and as i have said about wasted tax dollars going to people that are not citizens of the u.s......84 BILLION TAX DOLLARS BEING SENT TO REBUILD IRAQ..im sure if we gave even half that much to mexico jobs would open up down there..therefore jobs would open up here..and im sure we would benifit alot more if mexico had a good economy rather than a good iraqi economy..

bad economy in america..recent reasons......

Bush administration helping employers cut overtime pay
Among the options for employers: cut workers' hourly wages and add the overtime to equal the original salary, or raise salaries to the new $22,100 annual threshold, making them ineligible.

whats 22,100 annual = in hourly pay?? something like 11.50 or 12.00$ thats a joke

aol send jobs to india after laying off 400 more people[on one of the many big american corporations sending good jobs overseas..along with tax dollars the gov. would earn not only from the employees..but also the company in general.

and of coarse another one ...84 billion for iraqi rebuilding

a couple of the many reasons for a bad economy..

why dont we start blaming the haves and not the have nots...is that possible?? i doubt it unfortunatntly

There are too many people here now, we don't need more. Many people are poor and there is still too much unemployment. If it was up to me I would slam the doors shut for 10 years and assess the damage done already.
