As we all know, technology is advancing rapidly. 3D rendering techniques are now capable of producing realistic renderings of people, objects, and scenery. It is also known that the military has produced software capable of reproducing any voice with great accuracy with a relatively short audio sample. With these tools it will be possible to create a CG impostor of virtually any person.

Do you believe that this technology would be used to deceive the public? If so, how?

This technology could possibly be used by the government to trick the people into believing that someone has commited a crime or something of that nature in order to draw public support to jail/execute/deport or anything that falls into the governments agenda.

This could possibly be used to draw support into going to war.

Hell, they could use this in so many ways.

Interesting. I guess it won't be long until we're treated to that new movie starring Elvis, Marylin Monroe and Leonardo DaVinci, and all current actors will be put out of work. It'll be like the old Greek days, when actors wore masks. Except this time the masks will be of people who are already famous.

Oh, well. Good-bye fame.

Government leadership, at the higher levels, is already so isolated that it would be possible to do today.

Take that video of Saddam being hung. Now as poor as the quality was, it could have been a fake. That sure wouldn't have been good enough to convince people here if it had been a video of a UFO.

Could someone in our government have "leaked" a video of the execution, and then given our ex-buddy a free pass to wherever? He may be running bar on Mars, for all we know.

The truth is that so much can be faked, and done so well, that it gets harder and harder to know what is real anymore.
