For all of you who are worried about your accents, I'd like to point out one thing. I don't like the way I sound on radio or in digital recordings,
either. Before you let soemthing like that stop you, please remember one small minor insignificant detail. Other people will hear you differently.
What you hear is not what they hear.
I'd also like to let you in one more small secret. Sound recording platforms like Audacity have a timing meter on them that you can read easily.
I'm half blind, and I can read it. You're not just going to sit down, plug in the mike, and knock of a recording that is exactly two minutes long.
You'll make many practice recordings before you ever send anything to Johnny. Shucks, man. Even I had to do my ATS Mix entry over a few times until
it was up to spec.
A lot of us are going to be tasked with learning new skill real fast, if we want to make this work. Yes, I'm a trained public speaker, but that's
not much of an edge when it comes to mastering the podcast. It's all about practice, and more practice. We're all going to sound like we have
accents. That's because (wait for it) we do.
If you want to win hearts and minds, this is how you do it. Once upon a time, before I did any of the things I'm now known for...I didn't know
where to start. All of the opportunities I now enjoy have come to me through trial and error, with lots of error in between mistakes. You didn't
have to beg for Dave and Johnny's project. They came to you. There's no job interview here. Step up and be heard...WITH an accent.
