Congratulations to Sammy Sosa, he became only the 5th person ever
to hit 600 home-runs in pro (MLB) baseball.

but let's explore this noteable feat a little closer...

Sosa had some difficulties & troubles with his last team, the Cubs,
and he decided to sit out a season...

you can get a little brief background here at this informitive link:
www.thespread.com...

Now, it is/isn't uncanny that Sosa gets the prestigious milestone homer
against his former career building team 'Cubs'.

but it's not only the opponent, but the timing of his 600th homer that raises one's eyebrow.
Last night was ushering in of the once-a-year 'Summer-Solstice' celebration...
a very big event for the pagan community, attended by thousands last night
at the famous and powerful site of the ancient Druids known as Stonehenge---
see; www.britannia.com...

Another instance of Life-imitating-Art, is the movie 'Major League' (1989)
see; www.imbd.com...

where in the cast of characters, there was a power-hitter named 'Pedro Cerrano' who practices voodoo.
Nothing sinister, the voodoo was actually just a 'vehicle'
for the power-hitter to energize himself with the power of positive thinking.

..................

looking back, i've always been a fan of Sammy Sosa,
in fact back in Phoenix, at a Denny's when i used to frequent
the 24th Ave/Northern restaurant & order the 'Grand Slam' breakfast...
because it came with a 'Denny's Holographic BaseBall Card'...

my frequent waitress got to choose which player cards would be given with the GrandSlam meal...
and i advised her to take the Sammy Sosa cards as often as she could, instead of selecting the Mark McGwire cards
as he was just a 'flash-in-the-pan', a momentary hero in the '97-'98 season.

i used to eat there 3X a week, & i hope she kept the Sammy Sosa cards
i advised her to hoard for the future, as the McGwire cards probably peaked at $100 for a short time
but the Sosa cards are destined, imho, to be $500 as the
future unfolds & he rivals the current H.R. record holders.
