Manuscript Shows Isaac Newton Calculated Date of Apocalypse

www.foxnews.com

JERUSALEM — Three-century-old manuscripts by Isaac Newton calculating the exact date of the apocalypse, detailing the precise dimensions of the ancient temple in Jerusalem and interpreting passages of the Bible — exhibited this week for the first time — lay bare the little-known religious intensity of a man many consider history's greatest scientist.

Front Page of FoxNews.com screaming Apocalypse could be in 2060 or later.

Seems convenient that this article pops up about something that has apparently been known for a while, and right during a period of history where many people anticipate a apocalyptic event to occur much sooner. Could this be propaganda attempting to chill us out and make us quit worrying abo9ut things?

But regardless of your own personal "End of the World" beliefs, when was the last time you saw the major news media talk about apocalypse so strongly while quoting a well known scientist? I dunno, the timing just seems suspicious to me. Then again, I'm suspicious of everything!

I haven't tried to pick out any details from it yet.

Can you decipher any text?

Its seems he has numbered paragraphs, and you can clearly see yearly dates in some sort of timeline.

Wow.

I dont need superannuation. i'm a goner in 43 years. well at least i can blow any money i have a few years before the dreaded 2060 arrives.

geez..
hahaha yeah right.

To be quite honest. I think EVERY person out there who thinks they know when ARMAGEDDON is going to be or even believe in it.... are a little nutters and perhaps should submit themselves to a psychological examination and also a logic test.

I dont believe anything will happen in 2060 or 2012 for that matter.
But its interesting none the less.

Actually, I don't beleive his manuscript calculated the exact day or even year for that matter, I seem to recall that he simply said that it would not occur any earlier that 2060.

Much fanfare has surrounded recently public revelations that Newton predicted the end of the world in 2060. Although this international news story helped bring Newton the prophetic exegete to the attention of the world in a dramatic way, Newton did not predict that the world would end in 2060. The date 2060 represented for him one of the possible dates when the events of the second coming would begin to take place. The date was scribbled on a scrap of paper and was never meant for public eyes.

Some interesting things about Newton.
He did not beleive in the trinity.
He did not beleive in the immortality of the soul...he believed that eternal life would come through a bodily ressurrection.
He believed that He also believed that Christ would establish a worldwide Kingdom of God on earth and that this Kingdom would bring about peace and prosperity of the world’s inhabitants.

Back to the 2060 date;...Here is a brif explanation as to how he arrived at that date;

How did Newton arrive at the date 2060?

This did not involve the use of anything as complicated as calculus, which he invented, but rather simple arithmetic that could be performed by a child. Beginning in the 1670s and continuing to the end of his life in 1727, Newton considered several commencement dates for the formal institution of the apostate, imperial Church. Earlier commencement dates include 607 and 609 A.D. As Newton grew older, he pushed the time of the end further and further into the future. In Yahuda MS 7 Newton twice gives 800 A.D. for the beginning of "the Pope's supremacy". The year 800 is a significant one in history, as it is the year Charlemagne was crowned emperor of Rome in the west by Pope Leo III at St. Peter's in Rome. Since Newton believed that the 1260 years corresponded to the duration of the corruption of the Church, he added 1260 to 800 A.D. and arrived at the date 2060 for the "fall of Babylon" or cessation of the apostate Church. It seems that Newton believed the fall could perhaps begin somewhat before the end of the 1260-year period and continue for a short time afterward. Whatever the precise chronology, Newton believed that sometime shortly after the fall of the corrupt (Trinitarian, Catholic) Church, Christ would return and set up a 1000-year Kingdom of God on earth. On page 144 of his Observations (1733), Newton cited Daniel 7:26-27 as evidence of this:

thanks for the try at levity...

the impression one gets is that this is "Newly Discovered" writing by Newton,
quite the contrary, this is well known information that's been known for ages....
the big fanfare is that some group is making a great deal about
this First Public Exhibition of the Newton Papers/manuscripts
and generating hyped up public interest...for a profit of course.

It may be helpful to point out that Newton spent a lot of time writing about the bible: the majority of his writings are actually about the bible rather than physics. He also put a fair amount of effort into the whole lead-to-gold alchemy scheme.

My point is this: It's not very weird for Newton to be writing about this because there's more to him than what's taught about him in grade school. The way the world is going is what scares us into thinking about a coming apocalypse. I personally think that if any world-ending event occurs, it won't be precisely predicted in advance.

I'm trying to decide if your being humorous or not...

I mean, the guy was English and went to Oxford University after all. I would be surprised if he didn't speak English

Well, it was common for scholars in those days to write in Latin, no matter what language they spoke. The intellectual community in Europe was small and far-flung; those who wrote in their native tongue would be understood only by a handful of fellow-countrymen, so scholarly works were in Latin, a language understood by all intellectuals of the period. This was the tradition from late Roman times until well into the Enlightenment. Newton's greatest work, the Principia, was (as its title implies) written in Latin.

Note that DaRAGE didn't say anything about Sir Isaac speaking English.

It's in cursive English and is completely readable.

Below that are astrological notations. He was apparently using astrology to confirm this.

I think that anything reported by FOX news should be suspect but I think that if the 2012 hype doesn't pan out this will be the new date for the doom and gloom theorists to focus on.

and thats exactly what i was applauding,
your pointing out that this document isn't some new found revelation
is the 'levity' and 'balance' that i saw as being needed

in the threads seeming rush to glamorize the public presentation of Newtons' personal consuming need of delveing into the hidden and arcane levels of the 'Word'...

i actually think this stuff reveals the character trait of being obsessive & compulsive, on Newtons' part
