So a lot of you are saying that there is no way that our soldiers or even citizens would support martial law in the event of a national catastrophe.
I'd have to disagree. Just to let you know, there are still lots of people who support Bush, or are not totally against him. You also have to take a
look at history: do you think the citizens of Germany in the 1930's didn't love and care for their brothers, sisters, and fellow citizens? Of course
they did, but they were convinced that they must support the actions of their government for the overall good of their country and citizens.
Look at all the other tyrannical dictatorships around the world. Somehow governments know how to get people to enslave themselves. Do you honestly
think that somehow America is different in the sense that propaganda cannot sway Americans to commit atrocities? Look at our country now... has
propaganda not affected every facet of our lives for the past 8 years?
I really hope your optimistic view is the correct one, but something tells me that Americans are humans, and that we are just as human as any nation
that has been or is under a tyrannical dictatorship... where citizens even snitch on each other because they're so afraid of the government. It is a
bit more complicated than "well, time to send the militia to DC to burn down the white house and fight courageously against tyranny and oppression!"
It sucks, but I think our country can easily be just as manipulated, barbaric and twisted as any other oppressed country.
However, I like to hear the optimistic view, because it makes me feel better.
