Sorry if this was already posted.
If there carrying out simulation tests now, how long will it be before we hear of plans to actually go to Mars. We really do live in exciting but dangerous times.

Yeah, I just read about this.

Seems to me that they need "Guinea Pigs" to make sure they don't "mess-up" any real astronauts!

The thought of spending 17 months in an isolation tank would be enough to drive most people insane. Especially if you were stuck with someone really annoying who won't stop talking and farts a lot.


Mind you...120 Euros a day, totting up to over 62,400 would buy a nice holiday afterwards.

Don't think I'll be applying for an application form just yet.

Preparation for man mission to Mars in fact started in 1960 - 36 unmanned mission to Mars.

One thing in order to engage is such mission would be a successful return mission - because everything that was sent to Mars didn't return back.
ESA is planning 2011/14 Mars Sample Return Mission.
