Since it doesn't look like blogs will be running on ATS again anytime soon I went and got my own domain and have been working on my new blog design for about a week now.

I've got it pretty much where I want it to be and now I'm looking for some constructive criticism.

You really like superhero movies, don't ya?

It's a nice layout, the only thing that jumped out at me as annoying is that your posts don't say what day they were posted, just the time. I don't know why that bugs me, but it does.

That should be an easy fix Major, and if that is the only issue you can find I'll take that as a good thing

I'm glad I was actually helpful.

It was really weird, seeing all the posts, with times, but no days. It was like being in the Q Continuum or something. And I hate Q.

15 bucks for the domain and 7/month for hosting but you pay for the whole year upfront.

Thanks

Also the image behind the logo rotates. There are five different images so far.

Not an expert or anything, but...

I like it, it rocks. Very smooth, clear-uncluttered layout and some sweet graphics.

My only constructive criticism is colour. Stlyistically I like the white on black and shades of blue to accent, but a few other colours would be sweet! (purple would be my next choice).

Monkey.

That looks great. What software are you running that on? (Wordpress etc)

Yeah, Wordpress.
Loving it way more than Movabletype.

I too am running WordPress on my own setup (when I host some other sites anyway).

I created WizardwordsBlog.com as a portal to:
www.popscribe.com...
www.flickscribe.com...
www.geekscribe.com...

I created completely custom templates and css from scratch and it was a lot of fun. I think I've got WordPress down pretty well after a week. If anyone wnats to pick my brain...feel free. I think it's empty though.

You fixed the one issue I had Umbrax...getting back to the home page.

Oh, I there is a way to get rid of the border on the smilies in the csss I'm pretty sure. That's my critique.

Yeah it took me a while to figure that out. Bugged the hell out of me too.

I've been looking into that. I think I just need to add a boarder= "0" somewhere.

I don't think so because in the css you're specifying images have a border somewhere.

.storyclass img [ border: 1px; padding: 4px; color: #ffffff; ]

Something like that should give just you post images a border, but all other images in the site no border. You might need to assign it to an id instead of a class level...I just can't remember.

If you can't get it, I can figure it out when I have a moment.

That's the thing, I like the boarder on the other images.

There must be somewhere that tells :) to look like
. I really have no idea though. I'm just a novice when it comes to this stuff.

That's what I was saying. The class storyclass controls everything in the post itself and that class I posted would put a border on those images. All other images wouldn't have it on by default.

When you have an image that needs it (if it's outside the storyclass area) then you could have a special class you could assign just for that image.

See, like I said, I have no idea.

Okay so I'd be deleting the line that is placing the boarder on all the images and then placing img [ border: 1px; padding: 4px; color: #ffffff; ] ?
