When Mac OS X first came out I really got into programming in it with Objective-C, but haven't really kept up since what I was working on is no longer relevant. I want to program something new, but me being the uncreative person that I am can't think of anything much off the top of my head....

Anyone have any ideas? Not necessarily something too simple, but not something really complicated either (I'm not going to be rewriting Photoshop or Excel anytime soon
).

You don't have to a programmer to answer of course!

Ok then Dude!

How about an ATS widget?

If there isn't such a thing. It could link stright to your members page and show your last three threads and your U2U's for starters!!

Good luck.

Ok, that's a good idea. I haven't looked into widget programming yet, but I will.

Thanks

I'm looking into this, but I think the widget standard is evolving quickly.

Do you have any idea for a real standalone app, something in Objective-C? Maybe even something ported from Linux or another UNIX system? Preferably using the internet, but not necessarily.

For example, the first Mac OS X application I programmed was a Napster OS X client, while it was still pretty open and before they lost their court cases. It actually worked quite well and I was going to release it as freeware with source code included but then all the napster problems happened and I had my own problems and it really never happened.

To really make useful ATS widgets, I think new interfaces would have to be opened up on the ATS code side to simply transfer data to a 3rd party client, rather than just try to parse HTML responses whose formats change on a continuos basis.
