Soccer: Support for your country?

I use the term "soccer" because I'm mainly talking to Canadians. During the World Cup last year there was lots of support for the countries of family origin. Example, my wifes nephew was a vocal supporter of England, his mother being British. You see the flags everywhere. Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Greece, etc.

Canada doesn't have a strong presence in international soccer, I don't know why, it's played across the country. If they did who do you support? The team of family origin, or Team Canada?

I'm not sure if this applies to the States as well. If it does, please field your replies. "Field". Get it?

I support the US team, I also tend to favor England since I enjoy the English Premier League.

My boy is English/Chinese.

He can support China if he likes, but untill he changes his mind it's England all the way baby.

I guess I support the Netherlands team since I have friends there that love them and there really are no high-profile U.S. teams I know of.

I'd support Canada until they got knocked out, which would be after three games, if they ever get in there again. Then I would support the country of my parents, Germany.

Brazil, but they lost so I'm not really hoping for anyone to win

I've got to support the American team all the way but if they are knocked out then I'd switch to supporting the Canadian or British team.

I love soccer I used to coach my daughter's team. She quit playing soccer because between soccer, Horse 4-H and school there wasn't enough time.
