Bright Ball in Sky Above Paris

Hello everyone,

I have been reading ATS for a while, and I finally decided to post about my odd sighting. It was around the 15th of March 2006, and I was on a flight from Spain to London, and as we were flying over the Paris area at night(4 am), I was looking out of the window, and saw a very bright glowing ball, it seemed to be about 10 miles away, and was either at ground level or just above it. I sadly wasn't able to get a photo of it becuase my camera was in the luggage hold. The picture below shows the basic shape of it.
The ring around the sphere seemed to be about 1/8th the thickness of the sphere.

Any Ideas?

Was it on ground or in the sky?
If it was on ground, you can stop worrying.

Well I couldn't really tell, becuase I was quite a distance away, and at around 35,000 feet, but it stayed there for about 20 minutes and then it was out of sight.

If it was something unusual, search the news, etc. for it. An object clearly visible from 10 miles away and almost 7 miles up would be huge.

Even at 4 am, a huge, glowing, object on the ground in one place for 20 minutes would be noticed by someone. If nothing out of the ordinary was reported, it must be a light that belongs there.

It looks like the huge stadium called "Stade de France" built for the World championship of soccer which took place in Paris in 1998. It cost a lot of money and the French are very proud of it and that's why they want everybody to see it at night (lit at night like the Eiffel Tower) ! It's shape is one of a UFO.
