Is it proper, after making mulptiple edits to a post, to remove the extra [edited by .......] tags.

Or is it more truthful to just leave them, regardless of the "cleanliness of the post"

To me, it looks terrible to see more than one, but others may feel that removing the extra ones is like the poster hiding something.

I ususally add something like:

edit for typo, or edit for clarity, etc.

So, what does everyone else think?

I was actually kind of bored when I thought up this thread, so if there is not so many responses, I really don't mind.

edit title for clarity

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to posting, so I always go back and re-read after I've hit the submit button.

If I do have to edit more than once I always remove the other edit tag.

It just looks so untidy to have this on the bottom of a post.

i think that only major edits to major posts really need to have multiple edit lines, even then only Edit: "Reason"

[edit on 16/6/2007 by Mr. X] lines kinda look like

also i hope noone thinks that i am trying to hide anything, because im not of cause...

If there was a window longer than a couple of hours to edit a post, it might be an issue. If there was a time stamp on the auto text, it might be an issue. If they didn't want you removing the superfluous lines, you wouldn't be able to.

So take 'em off. You only need one to show you edited the post, and you can't take 'em all off. It'll always show at least one [EDIT] line if you do any editing.

That all made sense in my head.

Iam like AnxietyDisorder. I always proof read my post. If I have to edit more than once I will delete the first edit.I don't know why.It just looks bad.I have left some posts with a double edit but I don't like too.Geez now I'm probably gonna get OCD over my posts now.

If I edit a post more than once, I tend to remove the second edit tag and leave the one. There have been posts where we see a multitude of them, and it really throws the page off when we need to scroll through them all.

I don't think it's bad etiquette. I think it's proper formatting.

Well I have always thought it was'nt proper to leave more than on edit tag, so yeah.

I've always just left only one edit tag, I use to put the reason why, and I do still if I
think it would look like I was removing something, but for the most part I don't add why.

Oh, and it's even worse now, since I don't always remember to use my spell checker,
and the edit buttons seem to disappear and re-appear on different forums.

I usually delete extra edit tags too.

I always remove the "extra" edit tags too. I think it looks so sloppy to have a bunch of them cluttering a post. So, if it's improper etiquette to remove them, then I have a major flaw in my etiquette
