Budski, again with the comparisons to labour? I actually agree with you, but I thought this thread was about Thatcher? Or can we rant on about all the scum in parliament?

What’s the difference between a porcupine and the houses of parliament?
The porcupine has the pricks on the outside…Corny but true.

Comparing Thatcher to Blaah is as bad as Americans always bringing up Clinton when one is bashing the Bush. As if because you bash the Bush you must be a Clinton lover. Some people can't see beyond the crap they're fed by the establishment, and you're either a Liberal or a Conservative, and they refuse to recognize anything outside of this self imposed paradigm.
I bashed the Clinton when he was relevant, then I moved on…

(I guess I should move on with thatcher too heh? hahaha)

And you know pointing out Blaahs faults doesn’t excuse Thatchers. I wish people could learn to see beyond the BS they’re fed through the media. You are selling your souls to a corrupt system that requires incredible faith to believe it’s good and necessary. Most of us lost the faith long ago, and are now wallowing in the pits of the burning truth. We scream for ignorance to give us the peace we so badly crave, but the truth rears its ugly head every time we settle.

But I can see the attraction of allowing others to decide your thinking for you. It makes it easier to know what to think on issues. Saves time; don’t have to waste so much time thinking. Gives you the confidence to speak out; knowing others already agree with you.
Just like everything in our ordered and controlled lives it gives you an easy, safe framework to base your existence on. Then you can fool yourself into thinking you have control over your life, and are helping to make change. When in reality nothing changes, those that really control things make sure of that, and those that follow blindly help to maintain that status quo. Whether they call themselves labour, Tori, Liberal, or Conservative, they play the same game. The wars go on, the exploitation goes on, the fear goes on, the control goes on, the break down of society goes on, as consumption becomes more important than life itself.
People killing for nike shoes and computer games, and another Iraqi family is torn apart in the name of freedom (oil was it something else?)…’We had to destroy the town in order to save it’ 20th century military logic. Can someone tell me what freedom they’re talking about? Can someone tell me something that didn’t come out of someone else’s mouth? Can someone tell me the truth?

Well, I think that some comparison is in order, if only for the fact that they are contempories.

For all thatchers faults she was honest (as far as politicians go) and I think that when you talk about someone like her, comparisons with the current crop or indeed previous leaders is inevitable.

But can also have a rant about the current lot as well if you like

It cannot be long until the most reviled Prime Minister Britain has ever had does the decent thing and pops her clogs!

For some 18 months now Class War have been planning a massive party in Traflagar Square to mark the occasion - scene of course of the most famous riot against Margaret Thatcher's policies!

Unlike the Labour student "leader", Richard Angell of Birmingham University, who recently proposed such a party then lost his bottle at the first whiff of grapeshot, we don't go back on our commitments. This party is on!!!!!

So if you were ever on strike in the 1980s, supported the miners, fought apartheid, lost your job to the Tory cuts or just hated Thatcher and all she stood for, we look forward to seeing you in Trafalgfar Square, very soon, with a bottle of the bubbly stuff!

Thatcher was pure evil who destroyed whole communities out of spite.
When Thatcher sold off the nationalised industries for a pittance she enabled major tory supporters to make obsecene levels of profit.
It is little suprise that her son is one of the leading arms suppliers in the world and has no morals on who he sells his arms to. He has also attempted to overthrow legitimate regimes in Africa. How could he not have turned out to be as horrible human being as he is when he had such an evil woman as Thatcher as a mother to offer guidance.

I for one will have the biggest party of my life when Thatcher dies, it would be a truly joyous day if her son joined very shortly afterwards.

Whatever else can be said about thatcher, she never hid what she was doing - we can question her motivations, but not her effectiveness.
What broke maggie was traitors within her own party, something we see mirrored with what's happened to blair.

Same can be said about Reagan.

He meant what he said. What you saw was what you got. Unfortunately for Reagan, he had a very active Vice President. One that acted without Reagan's knowledge some of the time.

OK fair enough, I take it all back. Mrs. Thatcher was a noble and upstanding primesinister, and her people loved her like no other. You should just see the reaction she got from those she so gallantly ruled over...

A celebration for Maggie

Look at all those people loving Maggie...

I'm not here to suggest that she was ever liked, I'm talking about how effective she was in some of what she did
Like;
helping end the cold war
taking power from the unions who abused it constantly
turning around the british economy
creating a nation less reliant on the benefit system
overseeing economic stability
making britain a world power again
increasing competition
