I’m not sure whether this has been posted already, but here’s what really happens behind the scenes where back channel news feeds are concerned.

Artist Brian Springer spent a year scouring the airwaves with a satellite dish grabbing back channel news feeds not intended for public consumption. The result of his research is SPIN, one of the most insightful films ever made about the mechanics of how television is used as a tool of social control to distort and limit the American public's perception of reality.

Take the time to watch it from beginning to end and you'll never look at TV reporting the same again.

This astonishing film was released in the early 1990s but few have any inkling about it. So here it is……all 57 minutes of it!

The film footage

Cheers!

Nice find.
I've worked in the media for a number of years.

While i work on a different platform than television (print), and I've mainly been involved in entertainment/music, this really doesn't surprise me at all. I've seen this done many, many times right in front of my eyes. I've had people's managers directly state to me, "don't talk about ... or the interview will be over."

What is quite frightening is the political level this is occuring on. Some of Larry King's off-air comments were very striking, albeit, I'm sure just the tip of the iceberg.

this is why i almost NEVER watch the news. I can't stand watching the propaganda they broadcast.

Rodney King.

Innocent people died and countless dollars were lost over that worthless lump of protoplasm.

The worst thing about the incident is that it was completely media fueled with selective edits of the tape.

In all the time before the trial that edited tape played thousands of times and only once did I see the tape played in unedited format.

On that tape, it was clearly evident why the officers used the means they did to subdue King, who had not responded to lesser means.

Someone in the media should have died for what happened in LA because of Rodney King.

Great vid. Thanks. I found the part about the democratic candidate Larry Aegran (is that his name?) being blocked by the media revealing. I wonder who gives the media their orders.

A related link: Iraq/Afghanistan coverage not even in top 5 and is behind Paris Hilton.
