Hi,

could this be a hanger door? Found this on a picture taken by Apollo 16 astronauts. It does't look like a shadow. Any ideas?

So, what do you think?

Took me awhile to figure out where you were pointing at. I looked at all three. I'm sorry, but I don't see it even when I blow it up.

I'll admit it does look slightly out of place in relation to other shapes in the picture. Hanger doors? I just don't see it man.

Looks like a shadow in the sand to me. Hangar doors? Where?

It took me awhile to find the location of it also. It looks like a miscoloration in a almost perfect rectangle shape. But it doesn't look like hangar doors.

This one is strange but not alien or manmade that I can see.

Sorry I still don't see. p.s. There's a pair of boxer shorts hanging on the clothes horse in my room, they look exactly like a guy with a big chin & he's wearing a hat.

looks like a small crater with a somewhat odd looking shadow, don't see any resemblance to a hangar door though

Okay. I see a lot better what you mean now. I was not looking at the right scale. But there appears to be quite a lot of variation of the surface within the shadow. Also, there's another rectangular shadow at the bottom right of the picture. I'm still not thinking this is artificial, but good detail work and thanks for sharing them.

I do not think that they are hangar doors. You need to ask yourself a few questions. Would a hangar door on the Moon serve the same purpose as a hangar door at an Earth airport? If they were hangar doors, what would they be door into? The side of the crater? Most hangar doors exist so a ship of some kind can be moved out to or in from a runway or something like that. Where's the runway? Don't you think it would make more sense to have the hangar doors on the outside wall of the crater, rather than opening toward the other inside wall of the crater?

Lastly, I have to wonder why an alien spacecraft would need a hangar in the first place. To change their engine oil? And it's not like they have to protect their ships from rain or snow. Solar flares, maybe. But I would like to think the aliens had better technology, so they wouldn't have to hide their ships from such storms.

But hey, I could be wrong. Hangars. I guess.

and if they have a better technology I don't think they need a runway!

Yep, definitely hangar doors. Good job.

Stop the presses, someone has found hangar doors........on the moon.

I would like to suggest that we try to be considerate to other posters. I don't like to see sarcasm just for its own sake if doesn't add to the thread. The reason is that it has a chilling effect. What I mean is, I would much rather someone point out something they think might be anamolous and be wrong, than to be intimidated and not point it out at all. If they happen to have found something interesting, we'd all miss out.

Just a suggestion.

Sarcasm aside (and that's not easy for me!), I don't think you have 'hangar doors' here. I followed your link back and grabbed the high resolution image. On that image, the dark area isn't square at all.

There's also the question of scale. Leonov Crater is ~33km across. Those would be some *huge* doors.

I don't see any hangar doors either. A couple of tiny dark smudges that are probably just dark surface material with shadows, etc. At least that possibility is at least as plausible as "hangar doors".

I just don't understand how a couple of tiny square-shaped features "become" hangar doors? Who drew that conclusion? On what empirical evidence? With what credentials? Selection criteria? Anything approaching investigative science at all?

Why "Hangar Doors"? Why not "Obnoxious Lunar Billboards", Giant black "Spongebob Squarepants Aliens", "Office Buildings", or any other of a number of imaginative creations? Where do we get "Hangar Doors" from this tiny smudge of a few square pixels?

Check John Lear's threads and some of MikeSingh's Mars and Moon stuff. Now there's some wild imagery (and imaginations). Anyway - don't be discouraged ryker - please keep posting!

But please tell us where "Hangar Doors" came from - any sources other than these little pix and your imagination? That's ok if that's all we have for this, no problem - just curious...

You know, I decided to give the high res another look (mainly because it's a cool pic), and I noticed that, instead of looking at it as something on the side of the crater, you can look at it as something protruding from the floor, something square or perhaps a circular cookie-cutter shape. I'm not convinced at all because I'd expect a shadow behind it, but do you see what I mean? Maybe my imagination's getting the better of me.

Photo interpretation is a high skill. I read a lot on Mr. Skipper's site, MARS ANOMALY RESEARCH. I have come to understand how he sees what he does. I haven't the skill he does. Neither do the rest of you. Accept it.

I see exactly what you pointed out. Good find. Hanger doors, blast doors, tunnel doors. Who frakking cares. Da gib's was!!! A rose by any other name would be a rectangle.

Ya'all are so ready to sniff out the rat, you miss the point. Why not just say hummm, remember you saw it and move on. You can't debunk the obvious.... what ever you call it.

Done. Next victum please......
