Just wondering if there is a rational explanation why Paris Hilton is sitting in jail for driving with a suspended driver's license and Sandy Berger didn't do any jail time for stealing and destroying classified documents from the National Archives prior to his testimony in front of the 9/11 Commission.

Or why Scooter Libby got 30 months in jail for a "crime" that somebody else committed and Sandy Berger got nothing for admittedly destroying classified documents that potentially obstructed the 9/11 investigation.

What's also curious is that many CTers (coming from an anti-neocon, anti-Republican, anti-Bush, anti-rich mindset) will think that Hilton and Libby got what they deserved, and don't seem bothered in the least that Berger, Bill Clinton's former National Security Advisor, walked with no jail time.

I dont think its anything but personal.
I think everyone in america is glad shes doing the 40 days, I am.
She is just so arrogant and needed to be put in her place and thats all it comes down to. No conspiracy just personal.

In a twilight zone kinda way this is her 15 minutes

I know a lot of people get some sort of joy to see Paris Hilton in jail and to see her "put in her place." My curiosity is why there was seemingly no equivalent desire to see Sandy Berger put in jail, or outrage when he was allowed to walk without doing any time.

Do you think driving with a suspended license is worse than destroying documents from the National Archives prior to 9/11 Commission testimony?

I hate to post one liners but why is this in the 9/11 forum? I know she is a horrible singer but I dont think she brought down the towers

This is in the 9/11 forum because I'm comparing Sandy Berger's destroying documents relating to 9/11 and serving no jail time with Paris Hilton being sentenced to jail for driving with a suspended license.

Do you know who Sandy Berger is, and thay he destroyed documents relating to the 9/11 Commission investigation?

No , I think destroying documents from our National Achives is worse than a DUI on a suspended license, but only a little because you might kill someone driving drunk.

Is all the testimony from the 911 Commission hearings availible to the public or only the actual 911 Commissions Report? Which I find lacking in evidence and full of assumptions.

Welll... I've SEEN what Paris Hilton can do and she still got 40 days. Sandy Berger must be one super super-freak. I bet he's been inducted into ALL the secret societies.

Sandy: 'Can I get in the coffin again?'
Members: 'You already been in three times tonight! We're not even inducting anybody!'

Now that's really funny....

Sandy Berger is a super-freak because he has both the Bush AND Clinton people covering for him. All we need now are pics of him at the Bohemian Grove and I think we can close this case.

Ohhhhhhh!!! This always ticks me off when I think about it. This criminal is out running around after what he did. I really get ticked off ... and I hear ya', NICK, it freak'n stinks!

Or why Scooter Libby got 30 months in jail for a "crime" that somebody else committed

Another situation that ticks me off!!

I FULLY hear ya' Nick. These two get cases are AWFUL!!

But I do believe Paris needs to serve jail time. Actually, it might be good for her. She can DETOX while in jail.

If Paris Hilton deserves 40 days in jail then Sandy Berger should have gotten at least a few years. For some reason Bush gave Berger a get out of jail free card and then turned around and hung Libby out to dry.

There is more evidence of a 9/11 conspiracy in the Berger story than in all the stories about thermite/thermate, micro-nukes, holograms, no planes, flyovers, false flags, etc. combined.

Imo, people should be DIGGING deep into the specifical people involved at the Justice Department that allowed Berger to walk, and who prevented the 9/11 Commission from even learning that Berger stole and destroyed the documents. That is where you can find a seam into the 9/11 conspiracy.

Unfortunately, because Berger's a Democrat, and because 99% of the truthers hate Bush, this will probably never happen. It's sad when FOX is the only network to do an expose on the Justice Deptarment's indefensible decision to let Berger off the hook.

No rational explanation here. I have been avoiding the whole Paris thing, but, is that what she went to jail for? This may be TMI but I got a DUI with a suspended license and didn't do any jail time (and for further information, I'll never have a drink and get behind the wheel again...it's just a stupid thing to do). Couldn't she afford a good lawyer? But, enough about her.

I have no sympathy for Scooter. If that crime was done by someone else, why didn't Scooter do the right thing and call foul? I have no sympathy for these lacky boys who will do anything their masters tell them. Even the illegal stuff.

If people think the Dems, neo-leftists, Clintons etc didn't have a hand in it, I have a bridge in Brooklyn they might enjoy owning.

Patrick Fitzgerald was investigating the "crime" of Valerie Plame's name being leaked illegally. This is the same Patrick Fitzgeral who was a prosecutor in NY and who did nothing to deter the terrorist cells their, and was suspect in his handling of the Flight 800 investigation. Fitzgerald determined from the start who leaked Plames's name, and that she wasn't a covert-op. Instead of dropping the investigation, he went after Libby for lying about his recollection of when he first heard about Plame, and who he heard it from. This got Libby 30 months.

Berger admittedly stole and destroyed documents relating to his upcoming 9/11 Commission testimony because he didn't want the 9/11 Commission seeing what was contained in those documents. The 9/11 Commission was investigating the largest mass murder in the history of the country. Berger walked with no jail time thanks to the Bush Justice Dept. Berger's former Clinton administration compadre, Jamie Gorelick, just so happened to sit on the 9/11 Commission, and former co-Chair of the Commission, Lee Hamilton, now works as a senior advisor at Berger's consulting company.

But hey, it was Paris Hilton that had to be taught a lesson by doing jail time, right?

I hear ya loud and clear Nick and was actually agreeing with you. The whole Berger thing has me scratching my head. And you said it, he has ties to both parties. Libby didn't. I believe there's your answer.

I think the rich, are using Paris Hilton to make a statement. Their tring to say something like, "See, rich people aren't above the law, we can't buy our way outa jail."

So now you know when rich people are found not guilty, you know its fair and that they didn't slip the judge a couple grand at the country club or nothing.

She deserved the time,(not to say sandy didnt) but it is about time celebs or so called celebs were made to be accountable for things they think they are above.

All I can figure is that Berger must have "dirt" on people in both parties.
Berger must have lived by the mantra, "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
Berger played his cards right and must have threatened to embarrass & expose the leaders in both parties unless he was given a pass.

I hope one of these days the truth will come out, but I'm not counting on it.

Maybe - Saving One Person - is worth it.

Maybe the judge felt putting Paris in jail would actually do her some good.

You can't always save the world - - maybe just small parts here and there.

Prediction

Scooter Libby will appeal and this whole mess will get tied up in court until Bush's last day in office, when Bush pardons Libby

you read it here on ATS first...

Its a damn shame isn't it?

Spoodily touched on something, (no pun intended)

At Cornell, Berger was a member of the Quill and Dagger society with Paul Wolfowitz and Stephen Hadley.

wiki: Sandy Berger

I encourage everyone to read the
wiki page, his history is interesting.
