I've been seeing RC craft like these on TV lately. Many of you have probably seen them as well. I was wondering how many sightings could really be RC craft like this. Here is a demonstration of one. Maybe these videos can be used to explain some sightings. Filming these from a distance or at night would probably look quite strange. There are many more videos on youtube. Search RC UFO

RC objects pop into discussions every so often.

I believe that they may be the sources in some videos. They may be hard to identify in videos, but Im quite sure in person they would be easy to identify because of their size.

At night they may be harder to identify. I can certainly see them causing a stir at night....

I'm replying because I have one of these gizmos, though not the exact ones pictured. After having played with mine to terrorize the cats, pester the in-laws, fascinate the grandkids, and earn dirty looks from the spousal unit I think the answer is that it is certainly possible, but unlikely.

The biggest problem is the range of the RC unit, which is not very far. You can't be very many feet from one of these without losing control. If I had a more expensive one with greater range, I would be loathe to take it outside after dark for fear of harming or losing it, unless I was bent on hoaxing someone, of course. I don't think the smaller ones would be convincing because they simply do not have the power to put out sufficient light to be seen at a distance. You'd have to see it pretty close to think it was anything special. Mine, which uses a helium filled mylar balloon shaped vaguely like a standard-issue 'UFO' has directions on it that say not to take it outside else it will head for the mothership and never be seen again. (As the balloon rises the helium will expand giving greater lift, soon to the point that the propulsion unit can't overcome the force of the helium expanding, and off it would go.) Just IMO. 1-1/2 cents worth.
