Almost two months ago, senate majority leader Harry Reid had a fleeting moment of genius when he proclaimed:
"I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week."
Shortly thereafter, he folded under enormous pressure from warmongering republicans, members of his own party, and rabid, radio pundants like Rush
Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity screaming, “What message does this send to our troupes, to suggest their dying and suffering was all for naught?” It
was a pivotal, defining moment in the debate over pulling the troupes out of Iraq, as the democrats had promised they would do so.
Leading the outcry were the Bush-ites with their favorite rallying cry, “We can’t leave until we have won the war!”
Folks, in sporting events you have winners and losers. We know Anaheim just won the Stanly Cup. We watched the Indianapolis Colts win the Super Bowl,
and the St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series. We know they won, because of the final score. But a war, especially in a region where the United
States is considered the enemy? Were the infighting promises to engulf the entire country in a civil war, especially now that the Turks are beginning
to go after the Kurds in Northern Iraq, and Iran is arming the region? Please!
If only Harry Reid had had the intestinal fortitude to stand by his beliefs in the face of the hysterical attacks by his detractors, he could have
secured his place as a hero in the hearts and minds of the American public, because he was right. And I’ll take it one step further; the war in Iraq
was lost the first day American troupes stepped foot in the country.
The simple fact that every able bodied man in Iraq didn’t meet them at the boarder, willing to die for their own freedom, should have told us
something from the get go. Cause if my memory serves me right, the French did not fight for the colonies, but with the colonists, and the
Revolutionary Army. And then they left.
Now, five years later and hundreds of billions of dollars, the Bush war machine is still trying to convince the American people he’s winning, or
capable of winning. Meanwhile, in schools across America, there isn’t enough money for students to have daily art classes anymore. There isn’t
enough money for physical education classes, or enough books, computers, or teachers. And the teachers…, how much are they paid?
The FBI just reported that 16,000 Americans were murdered on the streets of American in 2006. That’s over 40 people murder per/day. They also
reported there were 92,800 rapes last year - that’s 254 rapes per/day - every day of the year? Chances are someone reading this post knows a woman
who was raped.
Folks, we are at war! This country is under siege by American terrorists. Your friends, neighbors, relatives, and children are victims every-single
day. In 2001, over 13,000 Americans were murdered on our streets, but we went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq because of the 3,000 killed in 1 day.
Think about it: is the so-called “War on Terrorism” more deadly anywhere else on this entire planet, than the violence right here at home, on our
own streets?
Satan has been around for a long, long time, and has seen his share of governments rising and falling like so many waves on the ocean. The one common
thread in man’s history is that it’s always the maniacs, and the elites who lead the masses into wars with promises of victories. The real losers
are always the people, because they’re the ones who sacrificed the most.
America needs the money we're sacrificing in Iraq. We need the soldiers we're sacrificing in Iraq, to fight for our own democratic rights here,
because we're definitely losing ground on that front with the Bush-ites.
What America needs, is a HERO to step forward - someone strong enough to sacrifice partisan politics, greed, and his/her own fears, to serve the needs
of the American taxpayer by ending the war in Iraq, right now!
