So it appears still no WATS?

Well if there's going to be, it being a new month I'd like to call attention back to the fact that we can't vote for people who are posting in threads. Like for example the No Planers get to start these threads and get tons of Flags (votes), but then when some of these guys step in dropping bombs on the OP's / videos visual trickeries we can't vote them "Way Above" for stunning us with awesome video / image analysis etc.

And then there's our own threads, where we can't 'vote' for people who make better contributions in our own threads than we did. I found myself wishing I could do this several times last month.

Maybe it's just a dead issue anyways, but if not I propose something along the lines of more votes than 3, and perhaps 2 'points' for votes compared to the one single 'point' the flags give. The votes being more prestigious than the simple flags where people might flag because its a hot issue needing attention, but the OP isn't necesarily "Way Above" for being the first one to post the breaking news or whatever.

There is still going to be a WATS award, but voting will be done differently.

No read it. Stars have nothing to do with WATS. Many people seem to be under that impression as I saw flagging rates all over the board start dropping off after the stars system was introduced.

There is no more WATS. The WATS awards will be given to the person who receives the most flags for their thread. There has been a lot of criticism towards this new procedure, but it looks like it is here to stay.

Here is the thread with more info.

The unfortunate aspect of this is that all of these ideas (flagging, stars and WATS) have the great potential of working, but haven't been because of a small group of immature people who flag the hell out of threads for popularity instead of quality, who 5 star posts of people they agree with only instead of solid posts, and who would vote WATS for buddies instead of great members.

The only way for any such ideas to work at all is if everyone would agree to set aside these issues and really vote the right way.

I've always felt that an award is only worth what it was given for. If someone wins a WATS because he's friendly... well, that WATS isn't really worth much is it.
