Renditions and secret prisons are something I would like to see the end of as an American I always believed we were better than that. Hold them as POWs all this CIA spook stuff needs to stop.

To hold POW's, you need a declared war, against a declared enemy.

The war on terrorism has no "declared" enemy, just terrorists.

I truly understand your frustration. Using countries other than our own,
using their prisons to conduct our interogations has been going on for quite a while, though. Nothing new.

When I was in Nicaragua, I got to see a few "interogations" by U.S.
forces.
When I asked if what I was seeing was legal, according to the Geneva
accord, I was told, "We aren't at war".

I never participated in these events. Thought it was wrong, but it has and continues to happen.

Be proud to be American. It's only a very few you should be ashamed of.

Regards,
Lex

Terror suspects held at CIA jail in Poland, says report

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the al-Qaida ringleader who claims to have masterminded the 9/11 attacks, was held, interrogated, and possibly tortured at a secret CIA prison in Poland, the leading investigator of the US policy of "extraordinary renditions" said yesterday.

Er... does that make it all right then? The fact that it's been going on for decades?

I have no doubt that there were plenty of Germans in the thirties and forties who thought the same way.

Paul Krugman might disagree

That the American people and their elected representatives continue to tolerate a war that has killed and maimed thousands of their own soldiers, destroyed the infrastructure of a country,
killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians and created 4 million refugees for no known reason raises serious questions about the morals of the American people...

All of the leading Republican presidential candidates openly and nonchalantly endorsed using nuclear weapons against Iran unless Iran abandons its right to enrich uranium under the non-proliferation treaty, to which Iran is a signatory (unlike nuclear-armed Israel, India, and US puppet Pakistan).

What is moral degeneracy if it is not using nuclear weapons to murder masses of innocent civilians and spread deadly radioactivity over vast areas merely in order to force a country to do as we order? If this isn’t barbarism, what is barbarism?

Do the American people realize that the frontrunners for the Republican presidential nomination are monsters who want to murder people who have done us no harm?

When I was a kid, I actually believed all the BS about the US standing for freedom and democracy. The more history I learn, the more I realise that this delusion won't wash.
