If this is a marketing strategy, I don't think that this is a very good one as it can scare off Hustler's potential customers.

Seriously though, I don't quite understand the logic of Flynt's action targeting members of congress & other prominent office holders to look for a possible sex scandal.

What could be the real motive here?

What is so hard to get about it? If he were to expose some sort of high level sex ring, don't you think readers/voyeurs would flock to him for the dirty details?

Looking at his previous run-ins with the law/politics, he is probably trying to expose some moral hypocrite in congress anyway.

If Mr. Flynt pays one mil to get these pictures and sells One million and five more dollars worth of magazines than he usually would, it is a good marketing plan. Plus, he would also get to stick it to the holier than thou types that he caught doing something (think Jim Baker).
