Console Wars! what do you thinks the best?

just curious as to what everyone thinks is the best console
i own a few and i think the 360 and the Nintendo DS are amazing
but just wonderd what everyone elses views were
wether you think retro gaming was best or next gen is were its at

What is the BEST console ever?

In terms of console wars the nintendo wii is kicking ass in the sales department,while the ps3 is struggling to keep up due to its price tag . The two consoles that I have been using are the x-box 360 and the wii. In the handheld division I'm hooked to the psp,due to its internet capabilities and certain games that are exclusive to it. If there are any comic book fans out there come visit my thread called "who's the greatest artist ever" I know its off topic but I just want to spread the word so it won't be locked.

Nintendo's Wii console outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 by a factor of six to one in Japan during June.

I dont really play video games, but when i do its on the Nintindo DS Lite.

Occasionally i play on my brothers old PS2. I would play some games on his PS3 but im not even aloud to touch it. lol.

One of the resons being is probably that i break a lot of game consols. lol.
Ive completely broke 2 N. DS lites, and he blames me for his first PS2 getting broke. (he threw a shoe at me and i threw it back but it hit his PS2, so he blaims me. but if he wouldnt have thrown the show in the first place it wouldnt have happened. lol) :shk:


But i would say i like the N. DS lite the best for now. If i had a Wii i would probably like it better. i dont know for sure.

Easy no brainer... you want to know my resoning?

MY GIRLFRIEND PLAYS IT. Not only that, she is quite happy to fork out money for games etc. NOTHING has got her excited about gaming before the Wii.

The XBOX 360 is best, hands down. Halo 3. Need I say more? Just Halo in general. It's also the cheapest of all three of the next gen's. Plus it has a better choice of games AND XBOX Live. You can't argue with XBOX Live.

The Wii is just too childish for my taste. All the Mario and Sonic games start getting real old and I feel I need to kill something eventually. I will say that the ability to play the older games is the only reason I bought one.....

PS3...expensive, lack of games...Blu Ray is all it has. And the Final Fantasy franchise. It's just not a big factor in the whole console wars deal here.

I've finally decided to buy a console. A Wii.
My wife has been quite ill, and has been housebound for a few weeks.
She'll need to stay home for another few weeks as she recuperates.

We talked about stuff she can do..And a Nintendo Wii was top of the list.

With the types of titles offered, like bowling, and tennis, which actually offer the chance to get her moving around a bit, seems like it's the way to go.
Trouble is, I haven't been able to find any in stock anywhere.

Any tips on how to obtain one?

Xbox 360 for the sheer amount of quality games and excellent Live service and it's alot easier on the wallet than the PS3. Wii is amazing i love it and being able to chill with friends and the missus loves zelda but i love online gaming and the Wii cant give me good hard but simple action like Gears or Halo or Unreal Tournament.


Spacedoubt sorry to hear that man Wii's are so hard to find at the moment cause the supply is way greater than demand Nintendo are making something like 75 dollars or more profit with each one sold. I looked online like amazon etc. awhile ago trying to get mine and i just couldn't get one for love nor money. Your best bet is to keep trying stores and asking them when they will get the next shipment in and maybe if they can save you one there was some in walmart and other stores you wouldn't think they would be in awhile back.

Wait a year. Games like Manhunt 2 will break that image in the minds of Developers and more and more of them will start making more serious adult oriented games if Manhunt 2 sells well(no reason why it shouldn't cuz most of the people who I know that have Wiis are well into their 20s)though I confess that I'll be buying a 360 when GTA 4 comes out but not until then.

Interesting that you mention Manhunt 2 coming out for the Wii. I didn't know about this. It'll be interesting on how it will be played.

Walk up behind the guy and make a cutting motion with the controller...that actually might be VERY entertaining.

HEy guy's. In 3 months time GTA4 will come to 360 and PS3, I don't own a 360 or PS3 yet, i'm here to find out which would be better to buy?

Now i'm not fussed with all the extra multimedia stuff the ps3, and I 'm hearing alot of bad things about this "red ring of death" for the 360.

I'm completely torn between the 2 because there are games on both I would love to play but what will be best in the long run?

The Red Ring of Death should be fixed on newer consoles as they are doing a recall and replacement of all affected consoles. I think they were waiting until they got the problem completely fixed with the newer models until they did a recall. I'd definately go with the 360 as their XBox Live service is second to none. The Game library of Nextgen titles is large and growing quickly, they have already topped over 10 million worldwide a while ago and now they just need new releases in order to get to 20 million(GTA 4, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, each will account for at least a million console sales). And plus the 360 costs a lot less the ps3.

So if I give it a month or 2 they should be fine?
It would be good for me to get a 360 because I've had playstation for more than 6 yrs now, plus PS1, and a different platform would be good.
I'm pretty sure GTA4 will be the same on both consoles so that was never an issue but as long as this Ring of death thing gets sorted I think i'll go with that.

There is only one problem with the 360. The backwards compatibility is the worst. There is a list they update of games that you can play the are from the original XBOX. I just bought NFL Head Coach for XBOX and tried to play it on my 360 to find that you can't...that's the one slip up Micro$oft has had so far.

I found one!
I was in Walmart, getting a few household items. Took a stroll back into Home entertainment..and Voila! there were 6 of them locked in the display case.
SO, the Second hardest thing, after finding the console, had to occur. I had to find the clerk with keys to the display case. That took a while..LOL

My wife is really having fun with it. So Am I , but it was so great to see her laugh, and get a little exercise.. Money well spent..!

Wii= Games and... games. Get home from work and have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off just to get past the main menu? I don't think so. I just spent 8 hours on my feet lifting heavy boxes I don't want to run and jump and climb just to play a game. Also, worst graphics, worst games, fewest games overall, and fewest options.

Xbox360= I love this system for online play of Halo series. And Fable is great, and Fistfull of Boomstick, and... Well, a lot of good games. It also has internet, movies, music. But it has less power, HDDVD(Which is being pwned by BluRay ever since Blockbuster declared it would carry BluRay exclusive) and it doesn't have the most amount of games I want to play.

PS3= The most Games, BluRay, Internet, music, pictures, and most power. EA Games has said they use 20% of the PS3 power. I've played NBA2k7 and Madden07 on a LCD Flat panel tv and they are beautiful. I can't imagine them looking even better! And Saw III on BluRay? Orgasmic Eye Candy. And it has the most games, through PS1, PS2, and now PS3 games. Its nice going "You know what? I miss X game, wait, I can play it!" Unlike Nintendo which laughs at all its customers. "Hahahaha, you paid 400 dollars for games and now they're paperweights! Stupid, so stupid!" Also its the easiest for transferring old game data. A 7.99 plastic piece for the PS2/3 transfers. Xbox360? Microsoft offers NOTHING. So all your saved game data on your Xbox? Pointless. Wii? Pointless. And cool cruising the internet. Although my PC is still better for that.

Only problem is price. But you get what you paid for. People who bought Wii's then had to replace windows and TVs when the Wii Strap broke and broke them. Nintendo recalled 3.2million Wii straps beause they were smashing thousand dollar tvs. Also, what costs more, a car or a bicycle? Which is better? The more expensive one? Really? Imagine that.

Also, I'm not 6, therefor Nintendo has... one game that I can't get on other systems that would be for a 16 year old girl. Although Wii is getting the Code Lyoko game but a single game is not worth buying a POS game system that is put to shame by the original Xbox.(I read the original Xbox had more gaming power, not sure I believe it but it is Nintendo so probably is true)

So, 5 for 9 against two competitors.

Sorry, when I get home from work I want to sit down and relax not run across the street, up the stairs, jump out a window, just to hit start. That and I don't want my TV smashed like dozens of TVs have been by the Wiimote. So really 6 of 9 things. Now I understand some of you don't have jobs so you can enjoy running across a six lane highway and leaping off a bridge to land on a moving train just to get past the main menu of a game but I have a job, two right now, and when I get home I want to relax.
