Okay, Reiki healing, what do you people think about it?

I find it very interesting just started to read up on it about 5 mins ago, if anyone has any good links I'd love to have them...

I prefer deep tissue work but a good reiki worker will really feel heat and move energies and do a lot of relaxing and even a bit of healing without even touching you. Imagine that.

I know people who have their life ruined because of Reiki.
Reiki is stupid and evil, stay away.

how can reiki ruin your life?

I can certainly understand why some people who get treated by these "so-called" reiki healers get worse rather than better.

Since some of the energy of the healer is transferred to the patient during the reiki process, it can be damaging to the patient if the energy of the healer is not "pure".

For instance there are "so-called" reiki healers out there who have mental and/or physical problems. These problems can manifest in the patient during the transfer of energy from healer to patient.

Nowadays I hear reiki in general is falling out of favor as an effective tool for healing. In other words, it's becoming outdated.

I think this is a good thing given the pitfalls that can & do arise.

If I remember correctly you don't send your energy to a person, you become an outlet to universal energy sort of like a rod. So you wouldnt be able to send your negitivity towards a person you are healing because the source of healing is not coming from you but from "external" energies. But I'm no expert, and my knowledge on the subject is limited. So maybe I'm wrong.

Alice,

I believe you more correct but intent matters in everything because there are only two intents that influence all in the universe.

Service to self or service to others.

I didn't knew Reiki could be 'bad', but explanations provided here seem reliable, but I certainly don't consider that reiki is "stupid and evil".

I think it's an interesting art, and just seeing how it was used for so long, it just can't be 'all bad'.

Maybe is just makes some people question their belief system, thus "ruining thier lives" I am sorry but that sounds ABUSRD.

This is one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. If you dislike Reiki so much, do you also deem modern, conventional medicine "stupid and evil"? After all, more people have had their lives ruined - indeed, had their lives *taken* by modern medicine than by Reiki. But I guess you just forgot about that.

Regardless of what your preacher told you, Reiki has nothing to do with demons. Reiki is no more evil than the martial arts, as that is where they originated.

If Reiki is evil, the modern medicine is even moreso - as it is responsible for many deaths that could have been prevented.

If Reiki is evil (coming from the martial arts, mind you) all American soldiers are practicing evil, since they are trained in at least some basic form of martial arts.

I really, honestly suggest you think before you make such an absurd and arrogant statement about that which you know nothing about. Reiki is to healing as Satan is to religion - not evil, but certainly grossly misunderstood.

Yes, universal energy is what is used in Reiki. To use your own energy would completely drain you, which is not good. However, sometimes one may inadvertendly put one's own energy in the flow of universal energy, and if your energy happens to have enough negativity in it, it can cause some undesirable effects. And it is true that intent is a major part in it all.

When I use to "carelessly" get involved in all things "alternative", I did not experience the "universal energy" you're speaking of. Instead I did contract some of the person's negative energy. I'm not blaming her (the healer) though because I don't believe it was intentional on her part but it happened. It took a year or so for the negativity to dissipate completely.

Yeah Questor, like I said earlier: while Reiki may not be 100% effective, and sometimes negative, modern medicine is no worse, nor any better, in my opinion.

I am a first degree Reike/Seichem.
I just posted a thread above wondering if the reiki and the other things I have going on are of the same channel or path.

hehe... i am a true believer on the spiritual and energy area, since i have had strong spiritual experiences, and i dont have any kind of degree on reiki, but i have the gift of healing by energy, and i am sure it works, it is basically visualizing negative energy (black or red, yellow as i get to see it)... and taking it out or replacing it by good energy (white, blue) from my point of view, most illnesses come from negative energies... which can come from negative beings attacks, thoughts, experiences, etc, and have a negative effect on our bodies, reiki or energy healing is removing that and healing with positive energy.
Thats just my point of view, i do not intend to contradict others beliefs

Greetings to all,

I came on this forum yesterday by accident and this is my first post. Unfortunately, I read a lot of misunderstanding here about what Reiki is or not. The most stupid and ignorant thing is that assertion of Reiki being evil etc.

To make it clear and short, a Reiki practicionner is a channel for the universal energy to flow through, and when this energy is given to someone, the 'channel' is cleaned/healed during the process too. Thus it is virtually impossible to channel bad energies and the like during a Reiki session.

If that happen (or seems to), there are a few possibilities there, either :
- the practicionner/healer do not channel Reiki at all
- there is some kind of emotionnal work involved and ancient emotional patterns are awaken and in this case there is some clearing to be done by the healer. If the healer is sufficently instructed, they should be able to do this and to explain the receiver what's happening and why.

Unfortunately, Reiki has been quite popular a few years ago and there are some people claiming they are Reiki practicionners or masters after they read a book or two. Others may be sincere practicionners but have not been attuned and/or instructed correctly by their master. The reason for the above is that some had to pay a huge amount of money to get their degree and the next logical step for them is to earn that money back ...

There are a lot more good and sincere practicionners and masters, fortunately. The 'bad ones' mentionned above remain a minority, of course.

Personally, I've seen true miracles through the practice of Reiki, even things believed impossible. If anyone interested, I can relate some of them in a new topic.

Blessings,

It came natural to me as well. That's one of the reasons I went ahead with the Reiki. It works completely differently than what comes natural for us.
Ruines? I won't go back looking for a post on ruines - not enough time. But I have those - I'm not putting alot of stock in them, but I will say this much - uncanny!

I think anyone with a gift would be apt to use it wisely and for all good - NOT for money.
I would be leary of anyone charging money ect. Same of the 'psychics'.

Those you have gifts generaly want to do all they can for others. I think it comes with the territory.

Reiki, originated by Tibetan Lamas, is now available to those interested in working the transcendental, and transformational energy. It utilizes vibrational science of energy based on a unique language of symbols, music, and color. To become a Reiki Therapist one must be initiated. This initiation consists of symbols (in an energy form) being transmitted from a Reiki Master to the subtle energy field of the student. This is called attunement. Reiki is a hands-on gentle and powerful healing technique. Therefore, once initiated to this system, anyone can provide healing at all levels of being.

They teach Reiki at Lily Dale Assembly, in NY state.

Sorry, until someone invents a "Reiki meter" where this so-called "energy" can be accurately measured or observed.....to me it will be nothing more than another passing fad that bored housewives dabble in.

To me there are very few people who could heal others with just their hands, and most of them are canonized.
