SOURCE

The former head of China's Food and Drug Administration has been sentenced to death. And i think he deserves it.

What he did was take bribes from drug companies and he passed drugs that werent safe to humans. This could have put 100s of millions at risk of death or other illness. And yes it could be a very large number considering China has the biggest population.

The disgraced head of China's drug administration was sentenced to death Tuesday for accepting what a court described as "huge bribes" to approve faulty medicines, including a batch of antibiotics that killed six patients and sickened 80.

The sentence handed down to Zheng Xiaoyu, 63, former chief of the State Food and Drug Administration, was not unprecedented in China's long struggle against corruption. But it was unusually harsh and was interpreted as a signal from the government that it is determined to look after the public's interest.

I wish our government would try and take a look at public interest every once in a while.

QUESTION - Should this type of action (death penalty) be used more often in these types of situations, in any countries?

I think it should, putting millions of people at a health or fatal risk should be death on your own part.

Maybe death is a little to harsh...jail or give him the same medicine he gave to others if he develops an illness if he dies well it will be by his own hand in a sense seeing he authorized the dodgy stuff during his tenure. I agree also though i wish other countries would pull the wool from over there eyes and see the blantent corruption in the pharmaceutical industry it's not acceptable for these people to knowingly put others in danger and cause them futher illness or death.
