TORONTO (Reuters) - Ontario and California will work together to develop new stem cell therapies to help conquer cancer, and will cooperate on curbing greenhouse gas emission, the leaders of the two regions said on Wednesday.

Flanked by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty pledged C$30 million ($28 million) for a Cancer Stem Cell Consortium at a Toronto research center.

Well Arnold continues to fire on all cylinders and put further distance between himself and the policies of the Bush administration. From stem cells to cutting CO2 emissions, the state is now on the forefront of both efforts. Its interesting to see cooperation between a state and a provence at this level.

Schwarzenegger seems to represent a new breed or a return to the concept of an Liberal or even moderate Republican. Once I got over the Hollywood image I quiet like Schwarzenegger the politician. Visiting my Grandfather who has dementia is enough to make me support the likes of Stem Cell research.
