I think we are probably one of millions of other species. Probably all are different in many ways. Maybe some subtle differences, but probably many are not even recognizable when compared to us. I think star trek (although a wonderful show in my opinion) mostly has bipedal aliens, which in my thoery leads people to more think of bipedal aliens as we only know about being bi-pedal and usually shows only show this as well.

Reminds me of the plot for Red Dwarf Season 4 Episode 1 called Camile. A blob could transform itself into anyone that the person was wanting it to look like. Also, there are a few episodes that deal with creatures that can change shapes.
