Just because someone makes more money does NOT mean that they have to give a higher percentage. It's their money. They can give it or not. They earned it.

'Soak-the-rich' just penalizes people who are smart enough to make more money. 10% is 10%. Why should a rich person work had and earn a bunch just to be expected to give most of it to those who aren't working? That's communism IMHO.

They earned it.

now on this point i disagree. not everyone earns their money these days, and many of those in the top income bracket simply inherited money.

there is no corollation between how smart you are and how much money you make.

10% is 10%. Why should a rich person work had and earn a bunch just to be expected to give most of it to those who aren't working?

i actually expect them to give it to charities that feed starving children in third world countries where the issue is far more complicated than "they need to get a job"

Are we now to bash a guy for making a good investment? I don't care for him but I applaud anyone who backs someone searching for gold and accually finds it.

were they actually searching for the gold? i was under the impression that this was more of a search for artifacts, one that happened to yield gold.

Good for him for being in the right place at the right time to make the investment. I'm still not ever going to vote for him. Anyone so self centered as he is, is not someone I want in the White House.

Myself? If I'd been an investor, I'd have been on the boat...how cool is it to find something like that? Haven't we all dreamed of finding a pirates loot? Or a highwaymans stash? Mr. Edwards gets, along with all the other investors, to live that...more power to him.

So what? It's still their money. It was their parents or grandparents ... it's now theirs. If a parent wants their child to have their money when they die .. it's none of our business and we have no right to take it away from them.

well, i never said what has been done wrong in communism, i meant what was wrong with communism on a philosophical and economic basis... but you're right. it'd be way off topic.
