I think you need to read the rules of etiquette.

I think what the original poster was asking, is if anyone could shed some light on the what he or she saw.

Well, I have heard of sightings back in the 1960's, where these cigar shaped UFO's were regularly sighted.

Here is a link about the types of UFO shapes and sightings of the object you mentioned...

Below is a you tube video, from a news story in the UK, where a pilot draws a similar looking object...

www.youtube.com...

Also, a hacker from the UK, who accessed files from the US military said the following, commenst in an interview to a reporter from BBC News Friday, 5 May 2006

But what came on to the screen was amazing. It was a culmination of all my efforts. It was a picture of something that definitely wasn't man-made.

...It was above the Earth's hemisphere. It kind of looked like a satellite. It was cigar-shaped and had geodesic domes above, below, to the left, the right and both ends of it, and although it was a low-resolution picture it was very close up...

Here's the link for the full story:

I cannot find a good image of the UFO. Can you draw it for us or something?

I don’t know exactly how far it was from the plane. It wasn’t right next to us, but it wasn’t a far off speck on the horizon either. How do you judge distance when it’s all just open air? It’s probably very easy to misjudge unless you’re experienced with this sort of thing. If I were going to guess (& please keep in mind this is just a guess) I’d say it was about a mile or so away. Maybe this will help. If I were to have extended my arm all the way in front of me and tried to compare the thing to the size of my hand it would have been a little wider and longer than my thumb but not as wide and long as my whole hand. (Just for clarification , when I say length I mean from the tip of my fingers to the wrist not side to side and keep in mind I’m a girl so my hand it probably smaller than most of you guys out there.)

Thank you for answer!

Reason I asked is just to get an idea of how much of details you were able to view. At that distance for all we know there might be some other details on this object, but because of distance you might have not seen them.

I wonder if you ever asked any other flight attendants or anyone else if they ever seen anything similar to this. If I saw something like that I most surely would ask all other crew members if they have seen anything similar.

Has anyone of passengers noticed this thing in the sky?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your wonderful information and speculation as to what this thing might have been. I am so excited. I didn’t realize how special what I saw was or that there are other people who have seen it too. Now I’m totally interested in finding out more about it.

Funky Monk
I want to clarify again; this was not a military plane. World is a private charter company that’s contracted by the military to transport soldiers.

These particular pilots stood out because they were more friendly than some of the other ones I'd flown with. I remember flying with them before (specificlly a trip to Greece where they tried to talk me into sunbathing topless.) but unfortunately it's been so long I don’t remember any of their names. Flight Attendants were highly discouraged from getting too friendly with the pilots for obvious reasons.

Hmmmm hard to say. There are some similarities but your picture is so blurry it’s hard to tell for sure. From the angle the picture was taken it looks like the ends may be more tapered than what I saw. There doesn’t seem to be any mist around the bottom either.

Vietifuljoe
I didn’t ask the other flight attendants if they saw anything. As I said, I really doubted what I saw. I didn’t know if the pilots were playing games with me or what so I just put it out of my mind and went on with my work. I doubt any of the passengers saw anything. The really nice thing about military flights was that most of the time all the soldiers wanted to do was eat and sleep. After the meal was served they would usually shut the window blinds and sleep until the flight was over. I never would have seen it myself if the pilots hadn’t called me into the cockpit.

Evil Elf
Thanks for the new link. I haven’t had time to check it out yet but I definitely will.

Deaman88
I feel pretty confident that there wasn’t a dome on the thing I saw. It’s true there might have been some details I couldn’t see from the distance but from my POV it was nothing but a dark metallic hull with no other distinguishing marks. Perhaps it was just because of its dark color but the one strong impression I got was how heavy and out of place it looked just hanging in sky like it was.

Hi Mitzella! Thanks for posting...

As an ex-airline employee myself, I can (at the least) empathize with your inquiry.

Any of these look familiar?:

Good luck - and keep looking up!

Hi Outrageo,

Thanks for the pictures. A couple of these are close but nothing there makes me shout "OMG that's exactly it!"

Hi Mitzella,

I have a link here from google, it is not the best quality - looks like someone taped a show off t.v. with a cellfone, but it does show cigar shaped ufos, with photos taken by the pilots.

www.youtube.com...

Can you draw an example of what you saw, its because you are saying your ufo looks nothing like the selection of images a member posted, so I would like to see your version, if you can remember it.

I wonder that if the contracting pilots were aware of the ufo, they may have been informed, by the military of its presence, suggesting then, that the craft was either alien, made by man, or maybe it is a ufo hovering in earth's atmosphere with the full knowledge/consent of governments.

The former would be the scariest scenario of all i reckon!

Deaman88,

The first video you posted of the Guernsey UFO doesn't seem to match up with what I saw but the second link you posted with the pilot describing and showing pictures of what he saw seems like it might be very close. I wish the pictures were a little better.

If I have time I will try to draw a picture of it for you.

Evil Elf

The Black Box video still isn't working for me.

Mitzella, I was wondering if you are able to draw us a picture of what you saw, or something of the like. Im sure many of us would like to see an impression of what you saw, I think it would be good so we can compare it with photos that we find and the experiences of others out there.

The Pilots reaction implies that they've seen this object more than
once and weren't concerned in the least. They probably didn't
report it to the control center either. I wonder if the plane's radar
was picking it up? Does anyone know if a detailed survey of airline
pilots has been conducted regarding UFO sightings? Since they
spend so much time in the sky and have keen vision, it would be
interesting to learn what percentage feel that they've seen genuine
UFO's while on the job.

Thanks for conveying this story to us Mitzella. The pilots reactions
speaks volumes about how common unidentified objects are in our
skys. Hope you're enjoying your retirement! -CWM (Chicago)

Whoah there horsey! Thats quite an assumption. What makes you think that? Don't you think pilots have a code of practice to follow and have something called 'moral duty'. I'd want to alert my fellow pilots that there was a dangerous obstruction in the sky

Im not saying that the OP is lying but i am saying that its a very irresponsible thing for a pilot to do... Was it Ryanair by any chance.. i might believe it then

Their reaction depends on their previous experiences of reporting such things. If this is common amongst pilots and the objects are known to never cause a problem and the report is always "filed quietly away" then there is no point in reporting it any more.

I know this might sound a bit strange to some of you, but bare with me for a moment.

The typical sightings of cigar-shaped UFOs have always reminded me of what a modern naval submarine would look like if it were suspended in the atmosphere. Is this a coincidence? Let's review a few facts:

* Submarines can be built without suspcion of conspiracy
* Submarines are designed to withstand tremendous pressures
* Submarines are designed to be environmentally independant for up to six months or more (e.g. completely self-sustaining)
* Submarines have thick radiation-proof metallic surfaces

If one were to imagine that the US is in posession of anti-gravity technologies, the perfect vessels to fit those technologies to for space travel would be big Nuclear submarines. There is no reason to suspect aliens, all you have to do is suspect that the US Military Industrial complex has mastered gravity (and there is plenty of anectdotal evidence that they have).

Peace

Thats an interesting point about the submarine thing.

First of all since we have gravity here on earth, a large dark metallic looking object hanging in the sky would simply fall to the ground, unless it had some kind of propulsion. It obviously was a UFO. Mostly because it was an Unidentified Flying Object. However, Is there any way you can say for sure it wasnt moving? When you are flying in the sky with no real standing objects to judge from, there's a pretty good chance it was moving afterall.

I'm going to go with the swamp gas theory here guys

Hi well I finally managed to get some time to paint a picture of what I saw. It was a really fast painting so please don't judge my artistic skills stricktly by this. It is the view from inside the cockpit. You can see part of the cockpit window, the clouds and ground below. The strange object with a light mist around the bottom can be seen in the upper left hand corner above the cloud line.

Corpus Callosum,
I think someone else on this thread mentioned the submarine theory too. It didn't look like any type of submarine I've ever seen but check my painting and judge for yourself.

Porschedrifter,
You make a good point and one I've thought of myself. The reason I believe it wasn't moving is because of the light cloudlike mist around the bottom of it. I would think if it were moving the mist would trail out behind it as it moved through the sky. But the mist was completely undisturbed. It was almost like it was trying to use the mist to hide itself from being viewed from the ground.

Mitzella, it is obviously brave of you to come on this forum and tell your story.
The pilots seemed accustom to seeing that particular craft. No they do not make reports of these objects because they are told not to. They knew perfectly well that there was no danger present with the sighting.
You stated that it was a metallic looking craft with some sort of cloudy fog around it, was the craft more of a golden hue?
I have seen one back during the late 80's that matched your description. I drove right underneath it for a couple of miles. It was so close it blocked out the entire sky above me. It was also rather difficult to actually look at it almost blinding.

I ain't no ET buff as you would call it but over years on sightings which i have read the "Cigar Shape" is one of the top ufo's reported by people. We always read or even see it ourself (the ships) but to me i wanna see what /whom are they that are flying this craft/s...big ciggy flown by my nephew's friends brother's sister husband or a bloody Grey

I have seen so so many photo's of this "Cigar Plane" but then also read that it is man made ..US owned afaik ,maybe not as top secret anymore to throw/deter our attention off/away on the real alien crafts...ahh Just what i have read & think.

The Cigar is causing a smoke screen ..

*Btw you mentioned the pilots "They Laughed/Shrugged" ...to me it sounds like they knew what it was/could be & were trying to freak your mind ..like a rookie game..just maybe ..if it was a nervous laugh i'd understand but surely they would have mentioned "Wow this is really freaky/weird!" if they have never seen anything like that.
