Re your dream and the artist who has written a song with that theme. You must remember that recurring dreams are just a way of you trying to tell yourself something. You'll keep having the dream until you understand what is being relayed in the dream, even if it takes years to work it out.
You will also find that people tend to have similar imagery in dreams - though not always put together in the same way, and also they often have their 'own' imagery to represent something (my recurring dream always involved neglected plants..always geraniums...and I eventually 'cracked' the dream after many years when a certain person was involved in a dream, bringing me a geranium)
Feel free to contact the songwriter but don't be surprised if he thinks you're a nutter. Many authors and songwriters are confronted by people telling them that a certain song is about them - I know a lot of songwriters who have had this happen to them and because they don't know the person and they actually know what they wrote the song about, it scares the begeebers out of them and they think they have a mad stalker. As for authors, my cousin is an author, and he had a fan accuse my cousin of stealing his thoughts to write a story. Needless to say, my cousin gave him a wide birth.
It may be that the songwriter has the same dream imagery as you, but don't forget songwriters use anything they can to write a song, even if they sing 'I' or he may have heard someone talking or read something but in any case, remember when the fan turned up at John Lennon's house and told him that he must have a connection because one of his songs was about him? It happened while Lennon was making a film about his life, and this fan just turned up, so the whole thing was featured in the film. It was back in the days of innocence, and Lennon invited him in. He offered him tea, and then proceeded to put this fan straight, telling him he didn't even knew he existed.
If you contact the songwriter, you may find a positive response, but you must be prepared for the guy to be scared and to think you are nuts.

True, truth is often stranger than fiction, but I just wanted to point out to Andromeda 12 that even if the truth is that something metaphysical is going on, the songwriter may not respond in the way expected/hoped for.
