more countries censoring the internet since 2002

in a study done by the open net initiative it was found that more countries than ever are censoring the internet from its citizens.

in 2002 it was only a couple of countries but the recent study found of the 41 countries they tested, 25 were found to be censoring information.

however, the us and most of europe were excluded from the study

because the private sector rather than the government tends to carry out filtering

(which personally i think was not the right attitude to take and all those countries should also have been tested also).

the majority of countries censoring are muslim countries so i'm sure that is going to spark a big, bad debate.
