A MiracleWoman Survives 'Internal Decapitation'

www.cnn.com

Shannon Malloy was critically injured January 25 when a car crash slammed her into the dashboard. Her skull separated from her spine, although her skin, spinal cord and other internal organs remained intact.

The rare condition is known as clinically as internal decapitation, and it left her with no control over her head. Her injuries left Malloy with nerve damage that made her eyes cross, and she has difficulty swallowing. She was not paralyzed.

Having her skull completely detached from the spine and she not only is alive, but is not paralyzed. I thought that this would have been impossible.
Divine intervention?

I read this article last night before I went to bed.

It was kind of scary to read, to know that almost anything can happen.

She must have had an Angel watching her.

She didn't have an "angel" watching her and God didn't have his hand on her.

It's simply some thing that happened that is beyond what we normally 'expect' to happen, and some thing that we are yet scientifically able to surmise.

I'm glad she's alive though, it's an inspiring story

I would agree with you on that. Amazing. Simply amazing. She said that her head slipped off her spine several times while they were trying to screw her skull back on. It's truly amazing that the spinal cord never severed.

I really thought I had misread the title when I saw "Internal decapitation". I just thought "What the _____ is that?" It's an interesting thing though, I wou;d never have thought it possible for anyone to survive that. I guess it must be that the spinal cord is more bendy than some would think rather than just breaking as would be expected.

wow, I definitely did not think that this was possible.

I figured that an internal decapitation constitutes major clinical brain damage.

I'm sure she will be monitored very closely within the next few years
