For the past few days I have experienced what appears to be a break down of load times on ATS. I get a Done in the lower LH corner the screen stays black for what appears to be ages then finally the page lodas

I did a check of load times on a few and got this for the home page

ATS Server: Primary 01
Powered by AboveTop:Board v2.3
Header data processed in 0.000 seconds
Page processed in 0.530 seconds
13 total database queries (4)

Then when I hit reply for my current post I got

ATS Server: Primary 01
Powered by AboveTop:Board v2.3
Header data processed in 0.000 seconds
Page processed in 0.020 seconds
10 total database queries (4)

Anyone know what is up????
Ops forgot to mention it is noly happening with ATS other sites are fine.

Hey shots,

It seems to be cruising along just fine for me.
Same for the last two days.

Sometimes it can be a bit slow, but quite often it turns out to be slowed by waiting for the adverts to load, not that i'm complaining, ATS is nice for being free, but a faster advert loading would be nice.

For the past couple of days I've been getting that every time I start ATS, but once I'm on it it is fine.

Hey shots, you on Vista?

I've been having exactly the same problem you're talking about, but only from my laptop which has Vista on it. My desktop which has XP does not have that problem... Weird huh.

No I am on XP

No vista yet I have heard it is a memory hog

It is nice though to hear it is not me alone. I am sure SO will get right on it, if he already is not that is

I'm on XP as well and the same is happening to me, shots. I'm also experiencing 'time-outs'.

Vista sucks major, BTW... got rid of it within hours of the download.

I've had little problems in browsing. The odd little hiccup, but very rarely.

Quite fast on my end of things.

I think it happens due to a time warp between me and ATS.

Happens daily, but since I have an ultra slow Net connection, I guess I'm used to it.

Also, I get sporadic "not loading" problems. All this as said previously, only on ATS.

Slow I can understand, but are you getting the black screen that is blank for several seconds or what seems to be eons whatever before the page loads?

We all get lags that is the Internet this seems to be ATS related for me since all of my other sites loaded presto no lag at all, that is why I asked others.

BTW Grady in your case it is old age

All the time. Seems more and more frequent.

Sure, for me it has more or less been like that always --but not the black screens-- as I have a ultra, ultra slow GPRS connection.

A different performence however to previous, which I'm not sure is ATS, my corrupted ISP provider, or my own machine.

I had this problem bad today.

I was trying to keep up with a thread and I had a black screen more times than I care to count.

I just "X out" and came back in. I'm glad to see it wasn't my computer messed up and someone else had this problem as well.

Is this the "black screen" you are talking about, shots?
example:

If that's the case, I think I always get that.

For me at least, real avarage page load times range from about 4.5 seconds to about 9.0 seconds.

I consider anything over about 10 seconds to be exceedingly slow loading.

I use an extension for firefox that includes a nifty little page load timer on the bottom right of the screen, just above the system tray.

example:

With Faster Fox, it allows for minor tweaks to help pages load a little faster.

But overall, I find that usual page loading times are affected moreso by whether or not images on the page that is loading, are already in your cache or not. Also when the cache is filled to max, it seems to be a bit slower as well.

edit = clarity.

No, M32... I think what you're referring to is another incidence of The Big Black Nothing, but what I experienced was complete nothingness... just a black screen with 'done' at the bottom left hand corner. I'd hit refresh a few times and it would come up eventually.

Whatever it was, it certainly isn't happening this morning. My pages are loading faster than a Gatling.

Anyone else still experiencing problems?

It looks like the Google site search form may be slowing things down again... the screen shot shows "Waiting for google.com..."

No in my case the screen is completely blank. Next time it happens I will take a screen shot . By completely blabnk I mean just the browser window

Check that now I am not sure it was completely blank I will have to get a screen shot to be sure

I think it's just taking some time for the invasive F.B.I. software that Google installed yesterday to work the kinks out...

They probably have a lot of the people on their watch list going to ATS and it's crashing their spyware haahha
