Several callers to BBC Northern Ireland have reported a series of strange orange lights in the night sky.

Air traffic control at Belfast International Airport said it had also received reports about the sightings, including one from the Coastguard.

Bangor is 15 miles from me .... I see a lot of people discussing it on local forums ................ wasn't there to see anything myself

I do believe in UFOs, but this case was solved. It turned out that it was some Chinese people releasing lanterns for their New Year's. I live in Bangor and I saw them.

I know Bangor very well My family live there

Interesting, do you remember about 2 years ago?? This happend near Belfast airport as well, And they could not figure out what it was, Many people where also witness then to,

And I thought from the news clipping this was from 14th May and the Chinese New Year is in January, isn't it?

i live in portadown and saw an orange orb floating over the house tops last weekend.. at 2am...
it was not a chinese lantern, this was a solid orange orb. i seen no flickering of a candle, it was totally orange and it seemed to be floating on a level flight
i only got a glimpse of it but i was only 20/30 feet from it
