Well this kind goes against your theory that 99% of humans are idiots, How could idiots create the pyramids haha. Just messing.

Maybe a few of you spouting 2-3 liners should read his post word for word. He's making a constructive argument.

If your too lazy to debate properly then your too lazy to debate UFO's at all and your a dead weight to the discussion.

People don't realize that when they say 99% of the population falls
into a given catagory (good or bad), they must also include their
relatives and most of the people who conducted the survey
in that 99% as well.

Some real good responses coming from people..thank you all for helping me understand a little better how people have been 'taught' to think...very entertaining, and i honestly meant to insult no one.

He must also believe that he is the 1% who is clever. Which automatically puts him in the 99%, so hes basically saying hes an idiot.

Bluedevil,

You can not stop people from believing in anything they want, part of the human nature is for human kind to always find somebody or something be higher up or deep down to blame for the failures of our race.

Conspiracies are part of the way humanity looks for something else to believe rather than become conformist to their existence.

Without some actual scientific numbers in actual research to back up your % your % means nothing, certainly not considering there is ample data to suggest that a much much higher percentage of the world population believe in ghosts, aliens, monsters, paranormal activities and nearly all of them believe in one or more deity's, their prophets, angels, demons, non human representatives, etc.

I would almost have to say that more likely 99% of these 6 Billion people believe in Aliens, the supernatural (in one form or another), monsters (every kid under the age of 12 and many adults), ghosts and most definatly one or more deity's.

Not to mention that on the subject of aliens, the existence of alien lifeforms is a statistical probability more likely then you being hit by car tomorrow, the statistical probability of the existence of alien lifeforms gets higher exponentially almost daily, when man learns more and more about the universe and life itself, and with discoveries of planets much like earth outside our solar system.

Also, ghost stories, hauntings and the like actually do have a high spiritual merit factor, since many ghost stories exist to show moral stories about good and evil. Hauntings are usually explained and traced to tragic or evil events happening in the location of the haunts (murders, witch executions, pagan ritualistic sites, etc, etc, etc), when stories about them are told, its either to scare people in behaving or to keep people away from a location trough fear and superstition.

All that said, statistically, you sir are most likely here for 1 reason and 1 reason only, trolling.
Your almost childish and close minded view about what you perceive other people believe or think is typical of someone trolling the boards trying to pick a fight, the fact you spout out some numbers that have no merit and are clearly false shows you've been thinking about how to maintain a little credibility so people wouldn't directly spot you for the troll you are.

If you don't back up your claims and numbers with actual data or at least explain why its insane to believe in Aliens, ghosts, monsters and conspiracy theory's etc, but isn't insane to believe in lucifer or god, eventhough there is actual evidence for the first while there is nothing but conjecture and a clear non religious motive for the invocation of the later.

Moderators have been notified and will keep tabs on this thread.

Trolls aren't welcome on ATS (or on any other community site on the web).

Its kinda ironic that for being against believing in the things you mentioned you pick a community site thats dedicated to these subjects.

But notice, just from this tiny tiny cross-section, just how the "psych-warfare' people working with governments can really cause confusion and disharmony...now imagine this test completed with the funding of billions spread over 60 years and 4 generations. Wow, now thats a topic for discussion.

I'm sure there is a forum on ATS for discusing just such a topic too.
Have fun!

ok one more time.......this is the important part of my arguement.......

"What we are taught to think and why..how to react and what to expect"

percentages are nothing, lets not focus on incidentals, fact is most people are average all the way around, we all know this...hell many people built an illustrious career around the idiocy of the common man, jeery springer has gilded his pockets quite well at the expense of , what 100 million viewers. lol

why did you even start this thread? to pick a fight? come on man we all have our beliefs but why are you coming onto a forum with specific beliefs that many people hold to just debunk them without any real knowledge? i think some common courtesy is in order.

I don't think that it was to pick a fight, but rather to get a reaction, but occurs Bluedevil may have changed his mind alone the way with the heated responses.

why 99% of the population have systematically undermined their own free thought by subscribing to insane notions (aliens, ghosts, lake monsters, etc) that hold no spritual or scientific merit

1 - Prove that 99% of the population believes in ghosts and/or aliens.
Good luck with that.

2 - Belief in the afterlife is not an 'insane' notion.

3 - Belief in the afterlife definately has spiritual merit.

4 - Being open to the fact that this universe is HUGE and that, statistically speaking, there is a greater chance that there is other life in the universe than not ... this has scientific merit.

5 - Belief in the possible/probable existence of aliens is a SCIENTIFIC PROBABILITY and therefore has scientific merit.

6 - Being open to new and or different possibilities, and being open to the fact that life in the universe(s) are probably not all water based .. this has great merit and shows potential for the human mind to grow in understanding.

blueyedevil - Your opening post was obnoxious. It was also extremely inaccurate. Your claim of 99% of the population believing in aliens and ghosts was obviously wrong and not even researched. Your calling people's beliefs about ghosts and/or aliens 'insane' ... that was extremely closed minded of you as well as ignorant of the FACTS in these subjects.

Who were you calling an idiot??
Glass houses blueyedevil.
Shame on you.

OMG this is spinning wildly out of control...read back ive insulted no one...simple statitics, not opinion aside from my disbelief in aliens. Wow, this is actually proving a few theories of mine while simultaneously making me worry for our future.

The initial point was to generate a healthy debate regarding all the strange and unproven...yet, as stated, not one person has addressed any of it aside from becoming defensive.

This is also what i stated, generally. In one of my posts.

I would propose an alternative way of looking at things.

Perhaps it isn't "idiots" and "geniuses" or even "idiots" and "intelligent people".

Maybe there are those who enjoy a bit of drama and those who don't. Personally, I pursue much of this information as entertainment. I think it is fun, often funny and rather inventive to see what people will believe, come up with, and create to justify their beliefs.

Truth is always tenuous at best. And most lies contain a grain of truth.

One truth (and part lie) is that we don't really want all the answers. Losing the mystery of existence would be much worse than tyranny by the NWO, Aliens or Ms. Rice.

So perhaps there are idiots but there also those that play at being idiots or even idiots who play at being idiots :-)

Humor is the balm to existence I think in my own experience. But taking ourselves too seriously is sometimes humorous!

Costructive argument? Where? I read the OP "argument" (every word, even the big ones
) and all I see is arrogance and faulty thinking. Too many people (or should I say sheeple) come here, throw down a tirade of crazy "facts" trying to enlighten everyone else (this alone gives insight to a issue or three that is wrong, a need to lead without ability is one) and gets indignant when proved wrong (another issue altogether).
