Let's get brutal get some death metal and deathcore in here.
(Not saying Deathmetal/core has not been posted, I didn't have time to browse all the pages....yet)

Abigail Williams

The best melodic death metal you will ever hear.

Suicide Silence

This song is incredibly brutal, love the guitar riff.

Carnifex

Such good vocal work, love the highs and lows.

All Shall Perish

This song is what all of metal through history was for, the ultimate metal creation: The True Beast

i hate deathcore and melodic metalcore. They all sound alike and rip off the last at the gates album way too often without adding anything original.

that said the first at the gates album is i think the best melodic death album ever released.

I thought this thread was to share metal, not to compete with others, put their music down, or to claim some sort of metal superiority. Maybe I was wrong?

If deathcore is a rip off and doesn't change or add anything, why is it a sub-genre? Wouldn't it be considered whatever genre it is ripping off?

Okay, so it is death metal in which the bands decided to make breakdowns a staple in their music (pretty much the definition of deathcore), does that make it intrinsically worse? Are you saying you don't like breakdowns?

If deathcore bands are only a rip-off, do you mind telling me who these guys ripped off?
(Can you even pretend that this isn't original?)

My main point is, check your ego (
) at the door, and stop insulting peoples' tastes.

its a metal discussion thread so i discuss what i think about deathcore and melodic metalcore. I just dont like the stuff.
In the song you linked i hear the the last at the gates album in all riffs but more technical. The first breakdown sounds like pretty much every metalcore breakdown ive ever heard and so does the 2nd breakdown. They know how to play sure but i dont hear anything different than what i heard years ago. I like how loud the bass is though. As far as taking at the gates riffs at least they dont copy paste without changing a single thing.

It is hard to take you to seriously when you infer that every deathcore band, and metalcore as well, rip off the same album by your favorite band.

I don't limit myself to certain genres, there is one standard that means the most to me, and is universal to most metal genres (barring black metal
) : It must be brutal! and on that note...:

Actually I think he brought up some valid criticism, barring the fact that you can pretty much argue every subgenre sounds the same. But still a lot of Death/Metalcore have been influenced by At the Gates and other Gothenburg bands, and have a tendency to use many "-Core Breakdowns"(I say -Core Breakdowns because, breakdowns are used in many types of music, and I'm referring to the specific type used in Metal/Deathcore). In the end it really comes down to subjective tastes...You obviously like these traits and Tomcat doesn't, and arguments over there presence can lead to some interesting discussion/introduction of new bands!!!

Anyways here is some delightful OSDM!!!

You miss my point, there is no way that every 'core' band ripped off his favorite album, it would make sense to say deathcore ripped off death metal...kinda. The very definition of deathcore is death metal with the use of breakdowns as a staple in the music.

I get it, he does not like breakdowns... that is fine. What is not fine is to say that every 'core' band ripped off his favorite album. Of course it is going to sound similar, deathcore is a sub-genre of death metal... should it not sound like death metal?

I am going to go ahead and bet that most death metal bands sound similar as well, does this mean they are ripping each other off, or does it mean they are in the same genre?

That is what a genre is, no two bands in the same genre are going to sound completely different... they would be in different genres.

And yes, being a sub-genre of death metal, deathcore is the same genre!

So my point is, if you are going to say you hate it, hate it for what it is (death metal with breakdowns), not some made up opinion (They ripped off my favorite band!!111!@12!!!1!!2!11!).

Here is some deathcore that does not sound like the rest...guess what, it is a sub-genre of deathcore(Technical Deathcore). Why? Because it doesn't fit in with deathcore but is similar. Does this mean they ripped off my favorite deathcore band? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

(They just happen to have one of the most vicious drummers in metal, always a plus
)

Oh and to be clear, I am an abrasive individual, I am not looking for a fight, I just don't worry about politeness to much, so don't take this as a personal attack, either of you.

Every bands takes elements from other older or favourite bands.I'm more into power metal and this happens all the time. The thing is how the band will take these elements and makes them their own.
I have many friends that they are musicians and i write lyrics myself for a friend's band.I tell you it is almost impossible when someone listens to this music for 20 years or more not to copy even if they don't want to.
For me it is not a bad thing. It is somehow respect to the metal history.
And remember my metal friends, this music plays for 40 years now,it is natural that we hear similar tunes.

And in the words of the great Christopher Lee:

Magic Kingdom-Flying Pyramids

Wizards-Shade of a ghost

Rhapsody of fire-Unholy warcry

At the Gates is not my favorite band, not even close its just that everytime i hear melodic metalcore i hear riffs directly taken from slaughter of the soul with little original spin on it. Autopsy for example influenced pretty much every swedish death metal in existance but they dont directly take riffs from severed survival or something.
